ToS is pretty laid back in terms of tournaments. The last time I went the staff were extremely chatty.

It's certainly not as cut-throat as many I've been to, so it's a good place for a first tournament! On the other hand, there's A LOT of players, so it might be a good idea to go with a friend for someone to chat to in any down time.

Good luck! Maybe I'll see you in September

The bits about good armies are outdated (from 5th ed), but the vast majority of the advice is applicable to any tournament regardless of edition.

To have an awesome time, to meet great people with beautiful armies, to get squiffy playing the pub quiz in bugmans, and to suddenly realise you are in with a shot day two, panic and throw it all away on the last game

Or is that just me?

Dont panic. ToS is laid back, relaxed and you are getting to play on some of the best boards around.

As it isnt ranking a lot of the more...dubious players dont go. Which is fine by me
