With a league starting, I decided to revamp my old Magnus theme list. (Some thoughts on the paint job here, and thoughts on the league here)

Thanks!

Yeah, took years of playing with the scheme before I eventually fine-tuned the army colors.

It's been a little while, but another army update and another battle report.

And pics here, as usual:

Another battle report, and a bunch of thoughts on the Galleon.

Also...

And since I got a request comparing their sizes,

My next post. This time, not battle report. Instead, I've put up my newly revamped super-duper tactics article on all things Magnus-themed (i.e. his 3 theme lists).

Also, pics like usual:

Been ages since I updated this (b/c I haven't gotten much time to play WM so haven't painted much), but I finally got to posting some more mercs. Really happy with my Vanguard.

Well, it's been another long time since I've done anything with this army, but a slightly blown-out update:

So, I was inspired by a current competition to do bit more work on my much-beloved but recently somewhat-unattended Magnus force.

WAMP is holding a conversion competition, and unfortunately my other choice mostly focused on an elaborate base as the conversion, which is strictly against guidelines.

Magnus is, was, and always will be my favorite Warcaster, and it was time he got another something special. He's now got a thematic Defender for his theme force, that doubles as Rocinante when he's playing straight mercs. (Obviously, I like his Rocinante version better...)

If you like him, voting's up, though it's the standard "register, to vote." Speaking of which, it's also election day tomorrow, here in Oregon.

So, interrupting our regular program, cleaning up my old Khador force, starting with Winterguard (notes):

Whilst the painting is amazing on it, I can't say I'm a fan of the Bombards. Those smoke stacks to me are such an iconic piece of the kit and a small part of what makes Big B recognisable it simple looks like you've stuck them on incorrectly.
Also, they're not immediately recognisable as Bombards IMO, which may create confusion. This could be a Kodiak at first glance.

I totally respect not liking the bombard replacements, but I've never had someone confused (I've had had him painted a while, with some touch ups before I just shot him).

I think because it's pretty huge, there's still that unusual central lumpy bit on the khador anvil's on, and those piston fist things are pretty specific-- a comparison shot I whipped up

Thanks, yeah, had a lot of fun trying that- it was hard getting that pale yellow, since any orange and it just looks like their eyes are supposed to be on fire or something.
