Alright so the local game store is running a 1000pt double elimination tourney Saturday. I currently have 3 armies to choose from but for the points it looks like its either Inquisitional Henchmen or IG. The problem is the for Henchmen I don't have serivitors, DCA, and all my henchmen are guardsmen so they all have las guns. My GKs are pretty much set up for Paladins and Purifier spam. For IG I don't have any Vendettas at the moment but can easily do a mech spam or possibly blob. I'm anticipating a number of CSM, 1 DE, 1 GK, possibly DA/crons, Bids or orks.

1000pts total. I would put Vendettas in but I don't have any, and thats all the heavy weapons teams I have lol. Any ideas on what else to put in?

A Chimera to plonk a unit in and sit near the LRBT or manticore to let it stand and fire and block some of the weaker amour of the serious tanks.

Get some mortars for next time form a special weapon team for then and place an objective hopelessly out of LOS, plonk them on it and mortar away. Since you don't have mortars get the other infantry squad to make the first PCS legal and fill up CCS / PCS with special weapons, possibly flamers to keep chargers honest.

How is the first PCS illegal? I see what you mean about the Chimera and sprinkling in some special weapons though. I'll probably put 6 flamers in there with the chimera.

I would easily suggest just getting more troop in general. Two extremely small platoons will do you no good, what other models do you have?

I have tons of infantry, Leman Russ, Basilisks, another Manticore, and 2 Sentinels.

I thought you needed at least two units of guard per platoon.

Oops! You are correct. So thats 50pts spent right there. That leaves 55pts for either that Chimera or sprinkling flamers or other special weapons.

Looks like your exactly at 1k points. Only downside to this list is that there isnt any mobile element. Meaning you will have to hold your objectives and at least get Slay the warlord and first blood. Your opponent will probably have Line breaker as he will come to you.

Yeah, my issue is with say mech vets the units are so small and die pretty quick.

I generally play about 2k so when I see how many models you have to score with it seems low but I think the list is pretty solid.

I think your general idea for a list (infantry, aegis, heavy support) is sound, but your platoons are under-armed. Drop one of the leman russes, and use the points to stack up special weapons and maybe another chimera. This will be more beneficial in a small game than one ordnance template.

Example, lose the LRBT (-150), take 4 flamers in each PCS, (+20) take the CCS chimera and give it to one PCS, buy another chimera for the second PCS (+55). Buy plasma guns for the platoons (+60). You could give one of the PCS meltas instead of flamers, or put special weapons instead of an autocannon into the CCS.

I think that sort of set-up would give your troops more killing power - using the CCS to give orders to infantry squads with more firepower, and the PCS as mobile attacking units. Currently you have no scoring units fit to go forward and seize objectives. It seems tempting to go with minimal upgrade infantry because they're cheap, but at the end of the day you've still spent the base points, and the units can't kill anything!
