I notice that Spartan Games has plastic templates up on their online store.... Any idea if these are available to retailers, or a store exclusive?

I've emailed Neal at the Warstore, and will elt everyone know if I find anything out.

One would think they'l be available to retailers, spartan dont seem all that picky with things like exclusives, especially one small money orders.

They seem to be a bit annoying, though. Maybe I'm weird (I am.) but if they didn't have a separate storefront/cart for their Studio Spartan stuff, I may have placed an order yesterday for the templates AND a starter army for the 'War of the Worlds" inspired invaders kinda-sorta-legal faction.

Instead it looks like I'll wait to see if the Warstore can help me out and order from them, as I could use a couple paints, too. And I've got about 1500 points of DW to paint as-is.

Aye, Spartan Games store isn't all the picky with retailers, but the Studio Sparta seems to be. Haven't seen any of the planet fall stuff outside of their own store, and while I know the Invaders got changed over to the SG main store i'm not sure if they're at retailers or not yet themselves.

Neal just got back to me (very quick, by the way...) and confirmed they they are direct only, at least at this point.

To the best of my knowledge, the Invaders are Studio Sparta only as well.

Could have sworn one of the newsletters mentioned them being handed over. Ah well my mistake

They definitely aren't. Just got mine last week from Miniature Market.

Hm. Weird. Maybe they're still being offered to retailers at a price point that makes them worth it. My main issue was the frustration that Sparta themselves runs two stores... one for Studio Sparta, one for their 'regular' stuff. Seems like a poor idea, but that's just my opinion.

No poorer than GW/ Forgeworld. It's not just two stores, it's two separate teams. Spartan Studios is just the specialist/experimental stuff.

I think it's a poor idea for GW, but they're at least the 400 pound gorilla of the industry. I can't see a small company (which pretty much means 'not GW' making things difficult like this unless there's a good reason.

The Invaders are on The War Store's March upcoming releases (yes, I know, it's April) so they're apparently being pushed to retailers.

In fairness I think SG are overstretching themselves anyway. At last count they're at 5 game systems (not counting Armoured Clash as it's more of an expansion to DW), with "plans" for a secondary game to Uncharted Seas (though thats been on the SS page for a damn long while with no news) and "plans" (again) to break FS into 3 different scaled games. Seeing as they've only recently if i recall even added a link to SS on the SG page, seems to me they only made SS as a stop gap measure to lighten the load on the main team. And I do mean stop gap. Things nearly collapsed for them a year or two back from overstretching themselves. Ever wonder why 90% of the releases are DW now? As well as leaving the last batch of F:SA releases to players to come up with rather than doing it themselves/not a whiff of a new US release in nearly a year?
