I'm rather new to 40k and I was planning to buy the Dark Angels Company Veterans Squad set and figured I could either make a Company Veterans or Command Squad. I'm mainly going to play against Dark Eldar from the battle force and some few extras my friend bought. My aim is to have the unit at a total point value of 200. My plan was to go with a Command Squad and have a champion with a chapter banner, apothecary, and then three flamers. The reason for this is to burn enemies like wyches, have an effective over watch, and still do very well in CC. I like this idea very much but I was hoping to get input from more experienced members of 40k. I was wondering if anyone had some better options for the Command Squad or have reason to go with the Company Veterans. I would like to thank anyone who takes time out of there day to help. Thanks very much.

The only use I've found for vetrans is to load them up with melta and combi-melta /flamer combi-flamer and put them in a drop pod to get behind the enemy line and cause alot of damage, in combination with a Deathwing assault

I think you'd be better off taking them as a command squad. forget the flamers, and take the banner of devastation with boltguns.

I like to say I have two armies: Necrons, and Imperium.....

Readying over the banner rules and I have a question. It says they treat their boltguns as salvo 2/4, my question if a person have a combi weapon do they treat the boltgun part as the salvo part or do they not get the bonus anymore.
