So, I know this is best left foron the shelf looking pretty. However, I made a heavily convrted gigantic lion rider which I love and would really like to actually use. So I was hoping someone may have advice on how to gear up this griffon and rider in a 2k sized match.

Beast Wizard or General? Anyone have much luck with either?

As a side note, my most common opponents are a cheese chaos army (Nurgle DP, chimeras, tzeench ward trickheros), and dark elves. So, I'd like to have a griffn who makes an impression and isn't laughed off the field by the other monsters

General, full plate, shield, sword of striking, speculum and 4+ ward.

Empire dont use monsters to fight monsters. Cannon do that.

Consequently between shooting monsters and shooting warmachines Empire have an easier task of clearing the skies for their own.

Use the Griffon as a force multiplier in a combat and should be configured for trashing units, the general needs a ward save and a magic weapon, tag team with deep infantry and allow your griffon to help you win combat on combat resolution.

You need not really tool up, so HawaiiMatts ideas broadly fit my own, though I would give the speculum to a wizard instead. The Speculum on a Lord is a mistake, your general shouldn't be accepting challenges unless you know you can win, and if the target has nasty items swapping in Empire general stats to it are still likely enough to kill. If you cant be sure of the challenge let the champion in the group melee accept and slaughter rank and file.

I was thinking +2 S sword and tricksters other shard at the least to give the general and the griffon the same target group. Hopefully chew through rank and file from the rear after hopefully blood roaring all the enemy artillery off the field.

Ulrics cloak thing, worth it or a waste on a griffon mounted general? (the -1 to hit may keep the griffon alive a bit longer)
