So I came across the Kings of war units online and the Undead army and I was greatly impressed at the style and detail on the units, Since I was starting a VC army I was wondering what you guys think of me buying Kings of War units to use as units in a VC army. Really Im worried if people will complain alot or if I can play in tourneys still

This is a question you have to ask the people you play with, as the answers will vary by location. I'd need to see pictures of them, but if the scale and size were right, I personally would have no big issue.

THAT SAID

Ask the people you play with. Do not take my answer for what your situation will be.

Games Workshop sponsored tournaments would probably have an issue with them.
If any of those existed any more.

If you (can still) play in a GW shop, they may have issue too, but I doubt anyone that actually plays would care.

editing to add:
curran12 has a good point though - the scale may be an issue. My initial reply is assuming they are the same size models.

GW doesn't sponsor tournaments anymore AFAIK, so you should be cool on that front. So its really up to the TO.

I haven't seen any tournaments yet that didn't allow non-GW models so long as they were WYSIWYG.

As always, its up to the TO to make the rules of their tournament. Ask ahead of time.

Runnin up on ya.

I own a mantic undead army and play WHFB with it. The scale is fine and the base sizes are comparable. The zombies are fantastic and the other units are good as well. The wraiths may be too small on second thought, I don't use them but have some and I think GW has them on large bases... I could be wrong. The knights are the cheapest you'll find and look nice, though they're in restic. Overall go with the hard plastics and you'll laugh at all the people paying premium for goofy looking GW VC models.

Six mistakes mankind keeps making century after century: Believing that personal gain is made by crushing others; Worrying about things that cannot be changed or corrected; Insisting that a thing is impossible because we cannot accomplish it; Refusing to set aside trivial preferences; Neglecting development and refinement of the mind; Attempting to compel others to believe and live as we do

So all units besides the Wraith are the same size? I I agree I think the Zombies and Skeleton warriors look much better from the Kings Of War Side

The newer GW skeletons are better.
I like the mantic ghouls more, and the mantic zombies a lot more.
The wraiths have a mix of great weapons, and are in armor. They are much smaller than GW's new wraiths, but actually work for Grave guard.

The mantic cav is nowhere near the GW cav.
But, for the staple ~50 ghouls and 100 zombies, it's a good way to go.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
On the topic of mantic, the mantic dwarves and chaos dwarves (abyssal dwarf) are IMO better than GW's.

The mantic elves are even growing on me, but most likely as wood elves, not high elves.

What other people say... I'm using models from various other companies and never had a problem on the local tournaments I play, I know those miniatures and are quite fine in my opinion mate! Just enjoy playing, I also love people doing conversions and use strange and funny fillers!

Thanks, I think Ill be buying Zombies from them for dirt cheap rather then selling my soul to GW to filed a Vamp force. Also anyone else know sites that also sell nice minis

I grabbed zombies and ghouls from Kings of war + Games workshop (gw was the first miniatures I got on the battalion), I also grabbed some awesome zombies - ghouls from Heresy miniatures (google it ) Those miniatures are damn awesome to make your command on your units tho they are metallics and their price a bit more than usual plastic kits, I also used the Ghast miniature from Reaper miniaures, I'm using this as my Ghoul Kings he looks pretty feral! Hm, I'm also using Gamezone's Vampire - Blood Knight except for the GW blood knights, the price was quite lower when I bought them, I dont really know the exact price at the moment, tho the poses of the models are way more cooler, more feral, more stunning, than those of the GW. Anyway, my opinion is to build your army the way YOU love so as it is cool for you and everytime you see it you damn love it more and more! Take for massive core units the cheaper miniatures you can get and to be honest the Kings of War ghouls and Zombies are pretty awesome miniatures. When you got the time to paint them and put them together as a big unit you will see that they look like a really nice positioned rotting horde of undead! The way all vampire counts players wants their army to look like

Seeing as how GW no longer offers tournament support they can f*$k off when it comes to only using their models. Both of the local GT's here allow now GW models now that GW isn't supporting them as long as they are reasonable sized and on a proper base.
