So I'm starting to build a SM force, and I'm going salvaged second-hand models all the way (it's just so much easier on the wallet). Anyhow, I want to build a BA force, but a few of the models I got recently have a symbol I'm not familiar with...its a (regular human) Skull and Cross Bones over what looks like a long cross. Is that a Chapter specific icon? Or is it some more generic icon/award. It's on the right leg of one tactical, and one on the leg of a Term...both of which look to be AOBR models. Thanks in advance!

It is just some random decoration i think. The AoBR models don't have specific chapter markings.

That would be the Crux Terminatus, a badge of honor and rank. Terminators have this and some veterans, sergeants, and other special characters have these honors as well despite not being in Terminator battle armor.

You say that I am crazy. I say that you are right!

Did it look something like this?

That's the "Crux Terminus" that is a generic honor device for Terminators, Sgts, and the like.

Life isn't fair. But wouldn't it be worse if Life were fair, and all of the really terrible things that happen to us were because we deserved them?

This symbol on two of the legs?

It's a Campaign honour won for some reason or another, probably to commemorate a specific battle. No effect on game play, not Terminator Honours, just looks cool, adds a bit of decoration. A lot of the AoBR models have that symbol.

Sweet, thank you much 'Dakka! I was worried it was something chapter specific (and in my case not specifically BA), but that is not the case. Awesome! And on a side note, is it me or did Termie models get a hair bigger starting with AOBR?

Yeah, Terminators seem to be getting bigger with each kit the last few incarnations, the biggest jump was from the metal to the current plastics, but the more recent ones are still getting a shade bigger.

I wouldn't say it's too much of a problem though, you've got to remember that as the Imperium ages, technology is lost/degrades and warfare adapts - hence chunkier designs due to a loss of tech or the need for more protection. Prime example is the Contemptor Dreadnought - waaay more sleek that current dreadnoughts that SM's use, or the Mk III Iron armour becoming more chunky for better protection than the Mk II.

Oh, and as for BA specific, the most obvious identifier of BA is the blood tear, so if you see that, chances are it's BA specific! (Or successor chapters of the BA). Good Luck
