So, I am in a Deathwatch campaign, and making my character. A Minotaur Assault Marine.

Only there is a problem. A Chapter Trapping is one of the pieces of starting equipment for every chapter... and Honour the Chapter, the book with the Minotaurs in them, doesn't have any for them.

I am struggling to come up with a fluffy thing I could use for a chapter trapping, any ideas Dakka?

Can't you just change him to a Terminator or tactical Space Marine? They at least are present at Lexicanum.

Uh, well Terminator Armour and the act of being a Tac Marine are sort of entirely separate attributes from chapter trappings.

An example of a chapter trapping is something like the tabard of a Black Templar or robe of a Dark Angel, sorry, should have been more clear.

I suppose you could put horns or a ring somewhere out of sight or perhaps an insignia from the High Lords themselves.

I found one Assault Marine VD http://warhammer40k.wikia.com/wiki/Minotaurs just scroll to the bottom and there it is a picture of a shiny Assault Marine Sergeant from the Minotaurs.

I would put a pair of horns on the helmet. Sure it looks a bit Chaos-y, but are you really going to take that up with the Minotaur?

They don't have horns on their helmets.

One of the ideas I put forth to the GM were horns that were not on the helmet, but the pauldrons, facing forwards (Think Magnus the Red), that give a bonus to a charge.

Some severed limbs, human or xeno in origin, a couple shards of bone picked out of the chain-axe's teeth (or splatter-guard) after a battle, the cracked skull of a Waaghboss or a Tyranid something-or-other, a Best-Quality Chain-axe... the Minotaurs are some savage SOBs (and not the nuns-with-guns kind) but they are well-equipped and well-funded.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.

They are minotaurs, not Minoantaurs.

Minoantaurs is a Space Marine chapter i just invented. They are the Minoan culture put into space. i haven't really anymore details. I would recommend using the Space Wolves codex for them just exchange wolves with bulls.

Are you going to tell the Minotaur he can't have horns?

How about a crest on his helmet? I know they have lots of Mk.VIII armour, and they look a bit Greek, maybe a tabbard with a Greek looking border could work too?

Not shown on any carving I have seen, and from any chapter i have seen.

I see from the IA volumes about the Badab War that at the end of it the Minotaurs took ships and relics from the vanquished Lamenters chapter.
So maybe something Lamenters / Blood Angels like in items?

The Minotaurs is a very codex-adherent-chapter, but they acts on the behalf of the High Lords, so don't expect any mercy.

I'd say this.

I'd follow the Greek/layman's-Spartan themes, as are seen on their characters produced by Forge World. They've got some interesting chestplate designs and the Roman/Angron-esque frilly bits on the groin you could copy.

That's an officer Just Dave, not a mere soldier seconded to the Deathwatch.

I'm aware, but they display trappings and frilly bits that are most suited for the Minotaurs; as demonstrated on the models that are most representative of the Chapter.

I must admit I would love it if they were an off-shot of the loins of the Ultramarines. Would taste so sweet, don't you agree?

I honestly couldn't care less.

So long as they're not a World Eaters successor. Honestly, Ultramarines is the most probable: they seem to have plentiful and reliable geneseed, without flaws overtly demonstrated by some others, whilst odds-on are of course a chapter being an Ultramarines successor. You could even argue their Roman/Greek styling supports this.

Thanks everyone, I've pitched quite a few of your ideas, and have a few options now.

If the Ultramarines were most probable, I'm not sure why their founding chapter would be so heavily concealed, tbh.

To remove all allegiance/ties to anyone other than Terra, maybe?

Or just to add more mystery to their story, no matter where they originate from!

The latter is the correct answer of course, but the former is possible.

I don't really pay much mind to what their founding chapter is myself, I like the individualistic, not constrained by the pressure of living up to their forebear's standards, appeal of the Minotaurs.

Hence why Brother Gregor, my Minotaur (And an A Song of Ice and Fire reference, lol), has the Individual Chapter Demeanor which I sort of am thinking of as the Demeanor for the Minotaurs.
