I recently had a massive clearout of my overly full display cabinet in an effort to both clear room for my models, but also to get rid of old unfinished projects that I couldnt see myself completing at any point in the near future. Part of the clearout was selling off my old zombie guardsman conversions that I hadnt been able to muster the inspiration for. I was amazed how well they sold and got some fantastic feedback from the people looking at them which did a real boost on my confidence, Between the cash I raised in the sales and a little bit of marine commision work a friend asked me to do I got the money and confidence to launch myself into a brand new modelling project based on the old zombie project. Starting fresh with new model concepts I paid out more than is healthy to forgeworld and GW.

My plan is to use alot of kitbashes from both fantasy and 40k kits to make the 40k counts-as guardsman army which will later gain some daemonic support. Work out a rough test scheme on my old model I came up with this:

Which is current names as my unoriginal: Zombie Infantry (mostly guardsman with zombie bits)

Investing in new kits I have now got enough parts for another 10 zombie guardsman plus PCS for them, next I have my Ghoulkin Infantry, they form up part of the same platoon as the infantry (I have the bits for 10):

Mostly Cadian but some Ghoul parts.

Moving away from the Cadian kits I came up with my Jackal troopers, largely decayed and resorting to scavenging they are feral beasts on the field. They also form up as part of an infantry squad (I have the bits for 10):

Mostly ghoul, zombie head, mixed weaponry.

Now my Eternal Veterans, guardsman long in the service of nurgle they have survived many a battle, they bodies warped beneath the armour they can endure far more than their allies and still return to fight once more (Bits for 10 of these):

Graveguard, Cadian Head, Renegade Arms, Zombie Legs.

Last for now is the Psyker leading the force into battle:

Currently the force stands at:

10 Zombie Infantry
Zombie PCS

10 Ghoulkin Infantry

10 Jackal Infantry

10 Eternal Veterans

I also have a Taurus Assault Vehicle from Forgeworld on the way to convert to a Ghoulkin vehicle

Yeah the Psyker and the original zombie had their own Showcase threads when I started out, now thati have over 40 models to paint I decided blogging it was probably the better solution. I'll be batch airbrushing the cloth tonight to get them done en masse.

Minor update for the day, I've managed to get through 4 of my Ghoulkin now with the rest having their cloth sortedand just needing armour and detailing figured out before they're based and done. Itook thepictures but failed to actually move them onto the laptop to upload so thats something for this evening to figure out. Given the sheer number of zombiesI am trying to make sure the skin/faces is the focal point of the miniatures and letting the cloth be a quick paint job via airbrush. This way I can hopefully get good looking miniatures and still finish some time this century.

I went to my local gaming shop this afternoon after the sweeps festival and picked up a heavy weapon squad to add into the various zombie subtypes so soon we'll have ghoulkin, jackal and zombie autocannon teams ready for use and a full zombie mortar group with my spares.

Finally I've done a test paint on one of my Veterans, doing so I found I struggle painting cadian heads, the small amount of skin available just doesnt seem to work out well for me and has prompted the final 5 vets to get Elysian heads rather than cadians to avoid what I have found to be poor quality painting when I do Cadian heads. Its not a great loss but was something that kept me up till 2am trying to fix and I still ended up going to bed disappointed.

Pictures will be up later but for now I have worked out the following miniatures currently make up my list:

Primaris  70 Points

PCS (3 x Plasma, Banner, Commander with Bolter)  102 Points
PIS (Ghoulkin) - Grenade Launcher, Autocannon  65 Points
PIS (Zombie) - Grendade Launcher, Autocannon  65 Points
PIS (Jackal) - Grenade Launcher, Autocannon  65 Points
PHWS – 3 x Mortar (60 Points)

Veterans - 4 x Melta Guns, Demo Charge, (Demolition Experts)  140 Points

Taurus Assault Vehicle (Hellhound) 130 Points Counts as Hellhound till I pick up the correct IA

700 Points
