I recently read this on another forum and thought that It was an amazing idea if it worked. Can someone please tell me why this doesn't work before I get excited about it.

Looks legit to me.

Works just fine. 2+ cover rerollable on majority toughness 3 is never that hard to kill these days, unfortunately :c

Wraithguard are T6. I may have to try this combo next game.

I already tried this combo with Wraithguard. Against IG opponent (so no close combat units) i still had 5-6 of them + Eldrad + Shadowsun at the end of the game.

How about 2+ cover re-rollable on majority toughness 5 with a 3 armour save? That's wraithguard for you, and I THINK they can infiltrate with Shadowsun which is just plain evil. Nothing short of a Heldrake *which would do VERY well* can put a dent in this unit, and you could tank those wounds on the shield drone with a 4++ re-rollable.

*toughness 6! Yikes, that's tough for a troops choice!

Hahaha Yeah I think this Unit would be a pretty tough unit to crack and Im planning to use it in my 2000 point list

I've done this before using a farseer along with eldrad, the farseer with invisability(I purchased 4 powers to get the rolls), combo this with a unit of harlequins with a shadowseer behind the guard with eldrad fortuning both for even more fun, wraithguard are the best delivery I've found for them.

In order for an IC to start the game joined to a unit, the IC must be deployed "in unit coherency with it." For them to be in coherency, they must be placed on the table. They cannot be in coherency while off the table.
If you put the Wraithguard down on the table before Shadowsun, then they cannot be outside your deployment zone, as they do not have Infiltrate.
If you put Shadowsun down first, outside your deployment, then the Wraithguard cannot be placed because it is outside your deployment zone and they do not have Infiltrate, and there is no one joined to the unit who does have Infiltrate.

Now, could you join Shadowsun to the Wraithguard in Reserve and have them Outflank? Yes. But no Infiltrating Wraithguard.

Eldrad can. As long as he is not locked in combat.

We have a local player that uses Invisibility + Council on Jetbikes. Its very annoying to deal with.

You might think T3 with fortune is something easy to deal with, but it is hillarious when I roll and I see my opponents face of excitemnet and then I pick up my dice and reroll again and pass all of my saves....they get salty after that . I had Harlequins get pumled all game and even took flamer fire and only lost 4 or 5 of them the entire game. His drop pods killed more of them in one turn that his entire army did .

Except when you face templates or 2 markerlights.
