Obviously we all know about the various gaming-related Kickstarters, but what about all the other cool stuff Kickstarter has to offer? I thought I would start a topic where can post and talk about some of the other neat KS projects that grab our interest. I'm currently backing these two:

A cool little magnetic stress reliever called the Thinket

This one looks interesting to me. I've used little squeezy stress balls before, as well as mindlessly clicking my ballpoint pen, when working at me desk. Plus, it's shiny.

A blue laser lamp called the Firefly

I like the possibilities of using this as a low level light source that doesn't disrupt me when watching TV or playing computer games, but still allows me to see the room if I need to get up to do something.

Any other cool KS projects that y'all have seen that you feel we should know about?

"You listen to me. While I will admit to a certain cynicism, the fact is that I am a naysayer and hatchetman in the fight against violence. I pride myself in taking a punch and I'll gladly take another because I choose to live my life in the company of Gandhi and King. My concerns are global. I reject absolutely revenge, aggression, and retaliation. The foundation of such a method... is love. I love you Sheriff Truman." - Twin Peaks

Holy crap, that laser lamp is cool. If they weren't 'sold out' of the pre-order levels, I'd have totally bought one right now.

Probably work

The laser lamp is really neat.

Interestingly, I've ready studies about monitors and insomnia that suggest that blue wavelengths of light actually inhibits melatonin production. That's amusing given the woman sleeping to the light in the video.

Kind of a thread necro, but it's still the appropriate thread for this, I feel:

I just backed the project. I could use a new watch, and this one not only looks cool, but has the added bonus that it is also designed for the blind to be able to use.

Somewhere in south-central England.

I backed the Bug-A-Salt, which has now become a commercially available product.

It was an Indiegogo but the same principle applies.

I got a bundle of six. They could not be delivered to the EU so I had them sent to my brother in Oregon and he sent on two batches of two and kept two as payment.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.
