Well, I think that this is pretty simple RAW, but as it seems odd i'm checking with dakka to see what everyone else thinks about it.
A model can usually only take on of each type of magic item, as per the BRB. However, at the top of Vaul's Forge in the Army Book, it says that "these [magic items] can be taken in addition to ANY of the magic items listed in the Warhammer rulebook. So as far as I can tell, it seems as though we can take one piece from the High Elf book and another piece, even if it is from the same catergory, from the BRB.
Thoughts?

No. You can take any of the items in the BRB (unlike some armies which are restricted) and any of the items in your book. Restrictions in typ still apply, so only one arcane, one magic armour etc etc

Any of the listed items in the book. I see nothing that implies immunity to the type restrictions, aside from wanting to cheat the system.

All the new rule books say that. It just means you can buy stuff from your army book or the rule book.
