Hey guys,

I've been doing some conversion work as of late on my custom marines and am looking for a replacement backpack to the standard-looking PA backpack.
It has to be a GWS product/bit (no 3rd party backpacks) which does not resemble a traditional marine pack but is still identifiable for what it is.

I've had a look online and there are a few Necron pieces which I think might suit the role however due to my restrictive budget I am unable to order bitz willy-nilly.

Hopefully there is someone out there who can assist me with this dilemma however if there are no suitable bits available I will have to settle for GK backpacks which still very much resemble standard ones.

Cheers

What don't you like about the normal backpack? Could you use the standard PA pack and just trim off the bits you don't like?

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

A fun differentiation on backpacks I am doing for my pre heresy thousand sons is taking the interceptor backpacks from the GK strike squads, and a pre heresy FW backpack and mixing them together. I took the interceptor backpack and cut off the bulb exhaust then took the FW backpack and cut off the tube exhausts and glued them to the interceptor backpacks. When I pair them they'll have glowing rods, and exhaust smoke.

@Fliny
It's not that I do not like the normal backpacks but rather that I am going for a slightly different look for my PA units.

@JohnnyHell
The Dark Eldar rear torso looks like it could be what I'm looking for. I'm assuming the other side of it (not shown in the picture) would be hollow much like a SM torso.

Do you happen to know the size ratio between it and a PA backpack?

Maybe try out some of the forgeworld ones?

Sorta whipped this up.

By combining the Dark Eldar Sourge torso front and back in a non-conventional way I can (hopefully) achieve what I'm after.
So it might work... at least in theory

Cheers to JohnnyHell for putting me onto the Dark Eldar bits.

No worries, I love creatively scouring bitz sites! Great solution by the way!

Yeah, the standard backpacks are quite convertible, while still retaining the standard SM look. The Chaos ones are also good, if you chop off the long 'bulb' vents to make them look chaosy.

One thing I tried was cutting off the 'bulb' vents on standard SM packs, and replacing them with smaller flat vents (chopped from the back of other packs)

Thanks guys for all the help

@Asmodai Asmodean
If the conversion I'm planning doesn't go as...err... planned there are a couple of packs at Anvil Industries that look different enough. cheers for putting me onto them
