Subject: Which Codex should I buy? Zoat proxy army!
|
 |
Xeno-Hating Inquisitorial Excruciator

My first army back in the 80's (apart from friend's armies that I played before that) was the Zoats -- who as we all know, are long gone from the game and the fluff now. I still have 9 of them, painted by my wonderful wife (then girlfriend!). I'd love to see them back on the table, and using them as Tyranid warriors pretty much doesn't cut it any more.
Back in the day, they were a very, very elite army -- the basic troops were 90 points apiece plus equipment, and the higher level heroes were 235 plus gear and psychic powers. Obviously, points costs have come down since then, but you get the idea.
At any rate, I would like to figure out what army would make the best proxies for elite hand to hand psychers, non monstrous creatures/vehicles, with 9 models.
I'm pretty much assuming that the GK route would be best, but I am interested in other suggestions!
(Looking to be enjoyably playable for TAC at FLGS, does not need to be tournament strength.)
Thanks in advance,
V

Dragiowing is the first thing to come to mind. Strangly the Zoats have popped up in the fluff again. I saw somewhere a picture of a Zoat in a newer rule book. Be cool to run somthing like that again. Have you got any pics of your models you could post up?

There is a picture of a bunch of monsters in the 6th edition rulebook, the one on the left is pretty clearly a zoat.
I will take some! The only good one I have right now is my avatar, which is the original commander from the army.

Found a picture! Not very good, but gets the idea across, taken during a game some while back.

Found more images, and posted them in the gallery. None of them are great, but they get the idea across!

Very nice they definatly look like 80's models. I still have a ton of the old Ork Boyz and Grots.
I think the picture I saw was in the 6th ed rule book I'll check.it out when I finish work. The has been rumors of an allies supplement rule for awhile now. So they might bring out some actual rules soon enough. Fingers crossed.
