I have bee absent from fantasy battle for over eight years now and just sold my lizards, WOC and vampire counts armies away. After the new HE armybook i decided to start a hobby project from the new HE army and make a game of thrones themed Others army (the ice dudes from beyond the wall) and also the nights watch, that in this universe of my wicked head have been overrun with the others and their wights. I plan on making my paint scheme something really different to the usual HE light colors by making armor look rusted, mixing grey brown and black to the leather/cloth parts and painting the flesh pale blue/grey. The eyes and possible flame effects will be done with bright green to make them pop!

Now here is my problem. I love the High elf models, but even if i do this army, i want it to be a themed army, the others and the nights watch did not have any real cavalry, only masses of foot troops, loads of archers, some with flaming arrows etc. So i would like to hear what units would go well with my theme game of throne fluff wise and also make a strong list for friendly and semi competitive matches? Btw, i have decided to paint all birds crow black so great eagles etc are ok Also if you have some good ideas for some kitbashing, please feel free to share

And bases will be done with loads of rocky ground and tons of snow and ice ofc

By 'the others' do you mean the wildlings? or the undead?
either way im afriad i cant see the similarities between high elves and either of those peoples. The wildlings resemble chaos marauders more, while the white walker undead people seem a bit between tomb kings and vampire counts tbh.

@Hairy, tend to agree with you. I think the army could easily be done with HE models painted and converted correctly, but the ruleset of HE does not fit the them at all, would be more thematically correct to roll with VC rules IMO.

Yeah, I doubt HE are going to work for The Watch or The White Walkers. the Watch did have Cavalry, if you think about it they sent out ranging parties regularly and most all were on horseback. Also a good majority of the black brothers that went north to the fist of the first men were on horseback.

It would require a lot of converting to get away from the tall pointy helms and stuff like that but that could most certainly be done, However if you wanted to get into cool things like the new Phoenix models there's no real way to do it.

There are subtle hints towards the fact that there are a group of White Walkers that are "good", i.e Cold Hands. But not enough info to go forward on that premise, The Watch also would not ally with them. I would center your thought process around one of the particular groups and go with that, I would say White Walkers definitely more towards vampire counts with an ice/snow theme. Night's Watch could be high elves with a lot of converting and green stuffing.
