Looking for a alternative to green stuff to sculpt with, and can I find it at a michaels store?

There are many alternatives out there. ProCreate, Milliput, MagicSculpt just to name a few. But i can't say if they are at michaels stores.

And why do you seek alternatives? Is it price? Or the consistency? Do you need something with different cureing properties?

I personally think that GS is one of the easier putties to work with.
So if your problem is price than you could look directly at kneadite and not buy GW branded stuff. (GW's is just a rename from the Kneadite putty and overpriced on top of that.) And all the other truly cheap putties are - as far as i know - harder to work with than GS.

Yeah, can't really recommend an alternative without knowing which property of GS is making it unsuitable for the task.

The price?

If it is, then look for Kneadatite putty. It's the same thing as GW's Green Stuff, only much cheaper.

small edit, and you can buy it off of the interblagosphere from cool mini or not or from any local hobby shop that's worth its salt, or a hardware store's plumbing section.

I find that ProCreate is a much smoother consistency than GS/Kneadatite, but that may just be because most of my GS is pretty old.

Admittedly though, I do like the grey color better than the green.

Milliput is another one, its a little different to work with though;
Tends to be a lil messier when mixing, mixes with water to change its viscosity, sets in about 4hours to a rock hard and sandable finish, Is a lil brittle and will snap where greenstuff mightve bent.
Can be mixed with greenstuff to get the best of both worlds (i.e hard, sandable, strong, not brittle, not flexy)

greenstuff is actually Kneadatite, also sold as 'Duro', blue/yellow plumbers epoxy, and probably a few other names.

Its fairly cheap on ebay, for the price GW sells a pack, expect to find a yard of the stuff rahter than the measly few inches that gw sell.

Try apoxie sculpt....it cures ROCK hard and is dirt cheap compared to most others.

I have a tub I bought about two years ago, and have a ton left.

To find alternative products google for 'epoxy putty', likely mostly plumbers tool type sites, some modelers supply sites and casting supplies sites also carry it. theres a million brands, types, hardnesses, plasticities, curing times etc etc
They can be quite expensive when you look at fast curing times, the cheapest ones I know of have all been mentioned.
I like to mix Milliput original and greenstuff / kneadatite.
Milliput sets me back £2-3 per 4 ounce pack, and kneadatite abotu £8-10 for a 36inch long strip (which is the exact same thing GW sell as 'greenstuff')
Mixing them together in a 50-50 ratio ish give me the best of both products I find; Greenstuff retains some flexibility and doesnt snapp as easily, While milliput is rock hard and sands/drills much easier than greenstuff i find, mixing them reduces the brittleness of milliput while retaining the sandability

I too use milliput - GS mixture. But i would advice against those GS/Kneadatite strips. With those strips you'll always have the middle bit with already cured putty. This can be either annoying for details if not removed or requires to cut away the middle before mixing. The middle bit is only good for bulk builds that will be covered with details later on so that the bits of cured putty don't matter

And i personally prefer either a 30-70 or 70-30 ratio of milliput to GS depending on what i want to do. But like HairyStucks i prefer the mixture over pure GS. I only come back to pure GS for sculpting organic stuff.

I'd say go for the Kneadatite packs where both parts come seperated instead of the strips. I use the Gale Force 9 GS tubes. It's probably not as cheap as getting kneadatite directly without rebranding but it is much cheaper than the GW strips and comes with both parts seperated. Also many hobby shops carry it (At least here in germany) so i can order it together with the rest of my hobby supplies.
