I noticed that the Deathwing terminators in the DV starter, and the new Deathwing command box all have daggers. Does anyone know if there is any significance to them in the background of the Deathwing?

The Dark Angel insignia is a winged sword. Blades are something of a heraldic must for traditional DA forces.

Okay, so there isn't really an event, or specific thing that it represents, just something of a tradition?

I'm sure the sword has some sort of tie in with Caliban and their order of knights that Lion was in before the Emperor found him again.

Historically, knights carried a second blade as backup and Dark Angels draw heavily from medieval knights.

It might be an unintentional holdover from the original story of Deathwing: The Deathwings first action in its new colours (as in painted by artificers not just smeared in ash paste) was under the command of Brother-Captain Gabriel, whose personal heraldry reflected his birth name: Broken Knife.
