hi there recently i played against this list:

HQ1: Chaos Lord [Mark of Nurgle, Bike, Power Axe)
HQ2: Daemon Prince of Nurgle [power armour, wings, black mace]
Troops1: 6x Plague Marine [2x plasma gun, melta bomb]
Troops2: 6x Plague Marine [2x plasma gun, melta bomb]
Troops3: 6x Plague Marine [2x plasma gun]
Troops4: 10x Cultist [flamer, 5x autogun]
FA1: Heldrake [Baleflamer]
FA2: Heldrake [Baleflamer]
HS1: 2xObliterator [Mark of Nurgle, Veteran of the Long War]
HS2: 2xObliterator [Mark of Nurgle]
HS3: 3xObliterator [Mark of Nurgle]
1850

with standard nec list (2xdlord, 4x5 warriors i scythes, 3 barges, 16 wraiths some whip coils).

I played with my friend, mission was hammer and anvil and we played 3 objectives and each kiled unit was 1 additional vp. I started and placed models 24" far away from my board edge (as close to him as possible), along the board in order to be able to reach opponent everywhere he deploy. He deployed everything on one side of board quite far away from me. In my first turn (and in the second) i tried to get close enough to charge (meanwhile shot some rhino with barge), second turn got every night scythe in board and i moved only 18" in order to avoid drake vector strike. Then he charged my wraith unit with DP and after few turns wiped it out. Then I charged his cultist which was protecting obliterators from being charged. One squad of wraiths was still to far away. I couldnt keep the central objective beacause plagues shot at my warriors in 5 turn and make them running away.

Did I make a mistake with getting to close? Should I kill DP after drakes with my tesla and then charge my enemy with wraiths? What should you do in this game to win it not only have a draw?
What is your target priority while playing vs CSM? Do you have any useful hints?

Sorry. You said that CSM were overpowered compared to necrons. People probably weren't taking you seriously. Maybe they thought you were trolling.

Shoot down his DP ASAP. That guy is probably the biggest threat in the list. You should be able to take down heldrakes easily enough with all the teslas you have in the army.

Honestly, I wouldn't worry too much about the oblits unless you are playing Big Guns. Once your wraiths get into combat, those oblits won't have much to shoot at besides your flyers.

Oh when he said OP CSM with Wraithwing, I thought he meant that it was OP because it was CSM and Wraithwing in 1 list.

Wraithwing shouldn't have much difficulty with 2 Heldrakes...

You guys are right.

I think my main mistake was to focus on drakes at the begining rather than DP, drakes can take down scythes with vector strike but its not so important. DP is much more powerful and he is biggest threat.

When scythes arrived i moved only 18" with NS (hammer and anvil deployment) in order to avoid being hitted by dragons. I should move 36" and shoot down DP, asap. He is biggest threat.

Take out the DPrince asap. Should be easy with Tesla Destructors.

Next, I would target the Plague Marines. They actually do really well in combat against wraiths, so youre going to need to soften them up first with Tesla.

Once you get his Marines stuck in combat with your Wraiths, you can start targeting his Heldrakes. You dont need to deal with them early as there really aren't any good targets in your army for burning until your troops get out on turn5.

It's also important to watch for the counter-assault from his Oblits as they can ID your Wraiths. Any extra shooting you have can target Oblits if they start creeping up on your Wraiths.

This is important as it's really going to be the only chance he has at freeing up his troops in time to go after objectives.

If played correctly, this should be an uphill battle for your CSM opponent.

Youre right guys, DP should be first target for me and should be shot down with tesla, if barges dont handle with that I have to wait with assaults in order to avoid being charged by DP. Then shoot down Drakes with everything possible- I think its important for me to deal with them since theyre decent weapon against my scythes and moreover theyre threat for troops. Meanwhile I can focus on his scoring units, plagues can be neutralized by wraiths, cultist gonna die from any tool I own. And I have to ignore Oblits, scythes and barges shoot at DP and then drakes, wraiths kill cultists and plagues.

Honestly, those Dragons can't really do anything but a hull point or two to your Scythes until your troops get out on turn 5. They really shouldn't be that high up on your target priority.

Stopped reading when OP said CSM were OP compared to Crons, spent next five minutes laughing.

Jesus, I see so much Necron hate, but the worst things I've ever faced are Helldrake spam and Manticores.

What exactly is it that makes Necrons even worse than this? How is that even possible? Or is it something I'm better of just not knowing, perhaps having a blanket ban on Necron opponents and living in a happy bubble of naivety?

^ I think you are looking at it in terms of how much damage they can do to you. So the helldrakes and manticores can do a lot, that's not to say the necrons cant but the main issue with necrons it that you can be all sweet turn 4... then in turn 5 there is a necron unit on every objective all of a sudden and you've now lost. They just have huge mobility with those nightscythes.

If your attack is going too well, you have walked into an ambush

The easy way is always mined

Not at all. Half have to come in turn one, the others come in normally. You can't just put them into ongoing reserves like Necron fliers.

Ah, yeah, true that (ongoing reserves, right).
Fair enough.
