Sorry, but I have to say this...

Needs more skulls

Other than that (and by that, I actually mean that it needs Less ) the container looks quite good!

Difficult to pledge now, when you only get dozens of containers.

Not necessarily. I've been building a port/industrial area for my table, and affordable containers that don't look like mdf kits are hard to come by. I scoured a train model shop, and AT-43 kits cost much on eBay these days.

This is a great idea, that can vary terrain by the person.

This looks cool... but, $35 for 2 containers just isn't a good enough value for me to get on board.

Good luck though.

I agree, there will have to be something more in this to sweeten the deal. A few more pieces thrown in at the early levels. At the moment this is the close in price as the manufactorum kits from GW (which are already expensive!)

Is US$12.99 a more comfortable price point for you?

http://rustforge.com/index.php/shop

Please excuse the websites incomplete nature. We are working on it everyday. The container is all plastic, can be built in 3 versions AND will be shipped when you pay for it. Not later this year. If you order some today, you could have them by weeks end!

The Orks are the pinnacle of creation. For them, the great struggle is won. They have evolved a society which knows no stress or angst. Who are we to judge them? We Eldar who have failed, or the Humans, on the road to ruin in their turn? And why? Because we sought answers to questions that an Ork wouldn't even bother to ask! We see a culture that is strong and despise it as crude.

Heh. Well-played thread hijack, sir!

The Maki system has the cool reversibility, I guess, though the non-detailed border all around the edges kind of makes it look a bit toy-like. Maybe that's just the render. I can see the almost-3-inch-size playing well with Deadzone backers.

But yeah, a bit steep. Unless you need the Grimdark detailing, those Rust Forge shipping containers look hard to beat.

They look nice and seem like they may be reasonably priced as long as you go for a $75 pledge or above. Every pledge level coming with it's own stretch reward level is a bit off-putting though. I'll probably hold off and see where this goes before pledging; a $5 early bird discount isn't worth possibly pledging for something that I'm not a fan of (once I pledge, it's hard for me to pull it, so I really try to avoid speculative pledges.)

The gothic side looks interesting (although it would probably be well served by replacing some of the skull panels with a different design to avoid getting repetitive.) The modern side, however, looks like you could replicate with some plastic card and some one-sided molds. You'd lose the modularity, but if you're only paying for the material to do casts it isn't too hard to just make enough for every set piece you'd like. Still, I'll keep an eye on this and see what comes out from any unlocked designs... it looks like this is pretty likely to fund, so I imagine I'll see at least one new design.

Good luck with it.

$75 for 5 skull-infested shipping containers?

No thanks, I think I'll stick with my Mantic battlezones.

Also, the cheapest source of shipping containers is probably getting some AT-43 boxes on clearance sale.

That is very circumstancial, though. AT-43 has been gone from my area for years, only source for it nowadays is eBay.

The Maki system is good enough for what it is.
But in this KS environment with Deadzone offering a similar product, they need something to push it over the top.

The thickness is nice, but again... it's not the quality that I am worried about.

Also, making it into a building is where this can be useful. But needs more options rather than just being containers

I hate to say this, but between the two modular plastic terrain Kickstarters running at this time, this one looks second best.

I think the sci fi stuff looks better than Mantic, but not nearly as economical. If they get to it, I might jump in for a couple of "elements".

Well they're increasingly moving towards a range I've not got much interest in. At least there are alternatives, and I might pick up some of their sci-fi theme at a later date.

“Good people are quick to help others in need, without hesitation or requiring proof the need is genuine. The wicked will believe they are fighting for good, but when others are in need they’ll be reluctant to help, withholding compassion until they see proof of that need. And yet Evil is quick to condemn, vilify and attack. For Evil, proof isn’t needed to bring harm, only hatred and a belief in the cause.”

I've been looking around for some cheap-ish but effective alternatives for Zone Mortalis walls, and I think I've found them.

The width of the floors are about the same as the height of the walls, so just stand the floors up on their sides for some longer wall pieces. Grab the Trooper set and you have over 5m of walls...

Now to see if my gaming buddies might want to pitch in!
