Hahaha yes.. maybe no bases at all for outer space?
I had an idea that I was thinking of using for Tohaa, to emphasise their alien-ness, although there is no reason for another faction: What about some kind of temple or alien-style mosaic bases? If you search for 'temple' or 'arcane' bases there are some pretty neat different examples of them.

Temple is a good idea, another couple of options would be a moon or asteroid surface although they are quite generically dusty. By space I was thinking something like this:
