Hi, recently a friend of mine bought me a CSM codex and Typhus.. The problem is, I like what i see, but I'am not sure where to start,,,
I was thinking plague marines in rhinos and some for of support or something.
Any Input would be welcomed.
P.S: my local games club "dis likes" people who take flier's, mainly because they cause problems so don't go suggesting 3 helldrakes..
I was thinking 7chosen+tyhpus in a landraider, 2rhinos with 7 plague marines in each and a vindicator.. but still a few points short and iam not sure..

Never done nurgle or typhus.....but from what i see typhus works with cultists quite well, could try a hoard army of many cultists.
but in general for statring with any army secure 2 troops and Hq ( which you have).

thanks for the advice. I was thinking of something like typhus in a landraider with ether plague marines or chosen. and the plague marines in rhinos.. but apart from that iam not sure what else would work well with that kind of army.. kinda tricky..

Ask yourself what kind of game you want to play, or what kind of force you want to own, then figure the units that fit that style, then decide on a list.
Do you want small and elite? Long range shooty? Mechanised? Nurgle themed? Close combat? etc...

I was thinking Close combat... but iam kind of used to tyranids.. so i dont know a whole lot about chaos.. iam currently reading through the codex tho..

Any particular theme? Mono-god? Warband? Legion?
It isn't that important, but having an idea of what you want can give you ideas of what you want to take.

yea not sure.. i know id like to get into close combat as quick as i can. i had an idea of 2 rhinos, a landraider and a vindicator. 7 plagues in the 2 rhinos 7 chosen in the landraider,,, but we play a 1750 point game so iam still a lil stuck, i dont want to commit to something that i could potentially be spending alot of money on, with out first getting some advice and guidance..

I wouldn't use any chosen at all. I think you should pick up a box or 2 of obliterators. They are one of the few diamonds hidden in a really large mound of poop.

i must admit i like obliterators. Spawn not so much. juggernaut lord not sure of. bikes i think are quite nice. and an Unmarked Sorcerer.... havnt looked at my codex enough yet. I did look a daemon princes because the can potentially get alot of close combat attacks..

Im sorry but for an assalt based list spawn are pure gold and worth every point you put on them. if your opponet doesnt deal with them they will run riot, and if they hug cover they can draw fire away from your better units.

its just the whole random attacks and no saves thing that worries me.. against my guard friend his mortars would take care of them... (unless Iam mistaken? )

You've got Typhus, so you are going to want Plague Zombies. They are dirt cheap, fearless, and have fnp, and are only unlocked by bringing Typhus. So definitely take a few blocks of 30 or so. Most people zombify Cadians, but the Vampire counts zombie box is also good for making plague zombies.
Typhus and Plague Zombies are a solid start, and Plague Marines in Rhinos would not go amiss for agressively moving to take enemy objectives. Plague Marines are excellent troops, and you cannot really go wrong with them. Generally you want to take 2 Plasma Guns, and if you are feeling fluffy take them in Nurgle's sacred number.
Mark of Nurgle Obliterators are amazing, t5 means they cannot be ID'd by anything short of s10, and they can provide you some much needed long range fire support as they trudge forward.
If you like Assault Elements, Spawn as mentioned are awesome, I would avoid Land Raiders if possible, they tend to be a huge point sink, and you are generally better off stiking to mobile assualt units like Nurgle Spawn or Nurgle Bikers which are not dependant on a transport for their assault range.

Spawn are a great bodyguard for a khorne juggernaut lord. He alone throws out 9-13 Str6 AP2 attacks at I5 on the charge. The spawn are just gravey that will ruin troops that they attack. They don't even need to be marked.. Rage and fearless, Strength and Toughness 5 with 3 wounds.

If you want stuff that gets into assault quickly, 9 Zerkers + Kharn the Betrayer going around, screwing shizz up in a Land Raider with Dirge Caste (DENIES OVERWATCH <33), this is what I play, and it has NEVER failed on me ;D

i play the same without kharn, and my juggerjord parties with 5 spawn. i know you said you dont want to drake spam but i should mention you are passing up the best flyer in 40k 1 with an autocannon can vector smash a flyer and autocannon it as the weapons are turret mounted and can shoot in all directions. also the baleflamer owns marines. i delibratly didnt use the IMO because this is all fact. spamming them IS A CRIME AND NO ONE WILL PLAY YOU. but even one works wonders

yea its just people at my local club sort of hate flier's... id rather not take them and get games ya know?
iam gona have to think about spawn a lil as iam limited to how much i spend a month..

Spawn are great - get a few bits from other kits (Tyranids love to be spawn and if you know any Nid players they should have tonnes of bits spare), toys and so on, and then mash them into some miliput - hell, just make a skeleton out of paperclips or garden wire then flesh it out (no pun intended) with miliput, sculpt in a few details with a blunt blade or even a bit of sprue with the end filed down thin and you are golden.

random attacks rarely roll bad. the spawns mutation rolls are all good so even if you get a bad roll your spawn wont melt instantly and probably will still kill a few enemies. if concerned about guard morters use nurgle marks to make them T6. note filling up your fast attack with these frightens opponents to death, and adds a very fast unit to a otherwise slow nurgle army. ive never feilded a nurgle army but i went into a 1500pts each doubles tornament with a guy who did, he used nurgle cultists(we couldnt use named characters otherwise typhus would have been a must) in huge numbers to camp objectives while spawn and nurgle bikers locked problomatic enemies up. then his DP flew around and ended each combat one by one. its a slow tactic but it works providing you can "stun" his units and then end combat with some form of super monster.

true, spawn and bikers seem nice but im also drawn to plagues in a rhino..
yeap. see the funny think is my local games club has nothing wrong with DP because its a FMC..
