This list is more fun then competitive but I would imagine it would still do pretty well against lots of opponents.

Lord of Change Lesser Reward, Greater Reward x2
Kairos Fateweaver

Pink Horrors x11
Plaguebearers x10

Daemon Prince Tzeentch, Wings, Armor, Lesser Reward, Exalted Reward, Psyker Level 2
Daemon Prince Tzeentch, Wings, Armor, Lesser Reward, Greater Reward x2, Psyker Level 2
Daemon Prince Tzeentch, Wings, Armor, Lesser Reward, Greater Reward x2, Psyker Level 2

1749

All lesser rewards will be the staff of change for the str 8 attacks. The plaguebearers are just to sit on an objective. Should be good versus most horde lists as flickering fire can be alot of shooting. The exalted reward will be a portal glyph to add more troop units.

What I am not sure about is if Tzeentch is the way to go for a flying circus? It looks like they give the most flexibility for psyker abilities to adapt to horde vs marine armies. Rerolling 1's for saves adds survivability too.

I have not played this list it is just theory for now but I want to get feedback before buying it. Any to offer?

It's very expensive so leaves you low on troops. I can run 3 Khorne Princes, Scarbrand, another Bloodthirster and 50 odd bloodletters at this level. But then my army is fluffy.

If your not inclined to a single god, then Slaanesh is the way for Princes - keep them cheap (I wouldn't use Psykers). But then you need a Keeper Of Secrets.

If 3 Flying creatures is enough then I would add a Nurgle Herald to the Plaguebearers and park then behind a Quad Gun using his BS5. I really dislike Tzeentch in the new codex and think Bloodletters and Daemonettes are better.

It is low on troops. The portaglyph helps. If you were to take exalted rewards and a greater reward on your princes, you get a chance at riftbringer. That would help a lot with troops, and if you're rolling on biomancy the loss of +2 str from the staff isn't much.

I like rolling psychic powers first, then my rewards. If you don't do this, I suggest trying it. As everything happens at the same time, you pick what order to roll things. So if you roll warp speed as a power, and roll a exalted reward you don't like take eternal blade. Now you have +2d3 attacks.

This type of list can be good. It can also be bad if up against a opponent with a lot of shots. Once grounded, mass firing is going to kill a prince easily. Also avoid anything with str 10 or force weapons in combat. We lost Eternal Warrior.

Well, if you take DoN and the DP is grounded in difficult terrain (5+ cover save), it can get a 3+ cover save thanks to shrouding. These winged guys don't need to test for difficult terrain as they are MCs.

What are you talking about, more fun than competitive? Most people will view this as a competitive cheese list. It may not be the best, but it's a tough and very strong list for most to deal with.

Your weakness is your troops. You can address that by bringing in another Exalted Gift so that you can get both the Grimoire and the Portaglyph.

Trust me, a lot of people are going to hate playing against your list, at least in casual play. They have a hard enough time dealing with 1-2 FMC's, let alone 5. In other words, it is a very competitive daemons build.

I must admit that I really love your list, Slagmar. The day the codex came out, I started putting together a similar (but not nearly as good) list, and got distracted with other things.

If you don't mind, I would love to proxy it for some games this weekend and playtest it.

Cheers,

V

I realize some people may not know how to deal with a list like this, and woud lose quickly to it. The reason I don't see it as competitive cheese is due to the number of armies that could shut it down or greatly reduce its effectiveness. All of the shooting is psyker, so Nids, Eldar and even space wolves can shut down most of the shooting. Against Grey Knights and all of their force weapons a grounded MC is 1 hit away from instant death. Plus being so low on troops makes it tough to capture or hold objectives. There's a reason why you don't see lists like this one winning any tournaments, of course for me this is for fun games so i would let my opponents know in advance that i'm bringing a flying circus army to help make sure its not one sided and still fun.

I was thinking about going for the grimoire, as I use fateweaver who can give me a reroll for it if needed, but saving his reroll for a failed grounding test can be huge as well. I'm not sure how to counter other flyers with this list though, str 6 vector strikes are semi effective but not overly reliable against the armor 12 flyers I play against often. Any suggestions for dealing with flyers while keeping a flying circus theme?

You get to reroll grounding tests and grimoire tests. It's every player turn.

Edit: Stormravens are the only flier with av12 on the rear. Just get out of their flight window and focus on the rest of his stuff. Everything else you can handle with vector strike + flickering fire to rear armor.

The problem with this list and why it is competitive and not fun for many people to play against - at least casually - is it destroys a certain subset of armies while being vulnerable to another. In a tournament, that kind of gamble with the right matchups can win big.

This is like the 27 Flamers, 27 Screamer armies that were really good against most opponents but throw a Tyranid list at them and they tended to roll over and die (or a 'cron air)

The flying circus is basically like 5th Ed.'s Draigowing. It is a hammer list that will either dominate your opponent or get dominated if they do not have the tools to deal with your army. It's not a balanced build, but not many armies have answers to all those FMC's. If your local meta is not really competitive, they will probably have trouble with your FMC-spam and you just may have to retire it early.
