Hi,

I looked through the non-GW miniature manufacturers, but couldnt find anything. Do you know if there are any manufacturers/resellers who makes/sells miniatures from movies and/or games? That would be cool.

Thanks.

I really want a gordon freeman.... :S

Sisters of Battle can be used in any game, with the exception of chess, Monopoly and of course, Warhammer 40,000.

After 8 editions, you might have thought that GW could get fantasy right.

Hasslefree has a variety of borrowed characters. However, depending on what movies/games you're after, you can usually kit bash something pretty damn close from the gw line. I've done Starcraft and bits and pieces from Mass Effect so far.

SST is gooooone.
You might be able to get some figures if you hunt ebay for them, though. But be aware that the plastic figures REQUIRE superglue (they are resistant to the toluene solvent in polycements).

They did put out a roughnecks set, though (with Raczak at the head) but most of the character models were from the roughnecks CG animated series, not the movies.

Anything in particular you're looking for, OP? I've seen a number of unofficial clones of characters and items from various shows/movies/games, from Dr. Who to Gears of War to Evil Dead, and I'm not nearly as knowledgeable as many people here. I'm not aware of any companies that focus solely on "not quite" characters, but a specific target might net you a link from someone that has already searched it out.

Thanks for your answers!

Not sure what I'm looking for exactly, I'd hoped there was some sweet site where one could browse through lots of movie-accurate miniatures.

But Warcraft/Starcraft/Robocop/Starship troopers, etc etc would be really cool, for example.

Someone does a nice resin Bayonetta but I can't remember the company's name.

You can find a lot of film and game characters done individually from small companies. They usually won't be named correctly.

For example, Heresy Miniatures do several "Not Doctor Who" models...

Crooked Dice do a number of similar characters from SpyFi TV shows.

For Starcraft Marines I used Teminators as the base:

I'm pretty sure that all of the Warcraft races can be kit bashed out of the Fantasy lines. with Starship Troopers, what are you trying to match to? The book, the film or the cartoons?

You can probably get a decent Robocop conversion out of a marine with trimmed down greaves, no shoulder pads and the visored scout head with GS over the top.

Hasselfree does some that are similar, as well as Khurasan Miniatures. Khurasan's offerings are only in 15mm as of right now, minus their APC which they do produce in 28mm.

There are many manufactures making "unofficial" Aliens miniatures. This guy has done a pretty good job of reviewing every line avaialble and keeping his reviews updated to recent releases.
Colonial Marines
http://dawnofthelead.com/2011/03/25/colonial-marine-miniatures-a-review/
Xenomorph Aliens
http://dawnofthelead.com/2010/10/19/alien-miniatures-a-review/
Predators
http://dawnofthelead.com/2010/08/11/predator-miniatures-a-review/

There are also a few making colonial marines APC's. Google Khurasan, Atenocitis ( Coming soon), and Scotia Grendel has a similar styled APC and there are others you can find under 1/48 Aliens APC or 28mm Aliens APC.

As for Robocop, I've not seen any.
For Starship Troopers, most of the St minis (except for a few types) are still available via Ebay and NOS resellers.
Officail Dr Who miniatures are still manufactured by Black Tree Designs.
Firefly'ish miniatures are avaialble from several different companies including Reaper and 4A miniatures

Basically almost every sci-fi universe has "not" versions of their miniatures made by some company. The exceptions are closely guarded IP LIke StarWars and Trek, and even those have some options.

Minor Clarification. Khurasan does have quite a few 28mm offerings, but as of yet, their only Aliens miniatures (beside the APC) are 15mm.

I've only seen one robocop miniature - and it's a 54mm scale one by Andrea miniatures.

They also do a "not terminator", "not conan" and "not Snake Plissken".
