I was paging through my new 5th edition (thanks for duly noting that insaniak ) Space Wolves Codex, and was looking at the finished models they showcased for sale, and couldn't help but notice that all the Wolf Scouts had... Sleeves?!

I mean seriously? This isn't the bloody Ultra Smurfs, REAL men don't need sleeves, hell the only reason power armored Space Wolves even wear sleeves is they need them for their power gauntlets to work!

Just kidding of course, couldn't help but go off on a Space Wolf worthy rant their, lmfo.

But to be honest I don't really like the 5th edition Wolf Scouts that much, I'm not a big fan of the 3rd edition ones either, but at least they where sleeveless, which makes them 20% cooler then scouts from other chapters. When I think of Wolf Scouts, I can't help but think of this guy:

Spoiler:

That being said I'm thinking of when I can/want too I want to create some sleeveless Wolf Scouts, any suggestions? Was considering acquiring a few Catachan Jungle Fighter arms and cutting off the arms from the shoulder pad down and gluing them on, using whatever I can to hide the cut line, then painting them up nice and Space Wolfy.

Mind you the above will only be viable if I can actually FIND any 5th edition Wolf Scouts for sale, GW hasn't had any on their site's shop section, only having the 3rd edition, which on top of not wanting, are out of stock to boot.

Feedback is welcomed.

The 5th edition Wolf Scouts are made using the scout heads that are in the normal Wolf Pack box, and one of the standard Scout kits.

I used the Catachan arms on my scouts as well as some marauder arms (for the axes/spears), you don't really need to cut them down at all, they glue on well enough.

I will try to hunt down some photos.

EDIT - Found one:

I ended up using a combination of sleeved and arms without sleeves, they came up alright.

Chaos Marauder arms work better than Catachan arms, IMO. Unless you go with the arms from the Catachan Command Squad.

Chaos Marauders certainly have that "beefiness" most people think of when they picture a Space Marine without his armor on.

But a question, what would be the best way of going about getting said arms? I'm not gonna buy an entire box of WHFB models just for the sake of the arms, unless there are a LOT of good bitz in there.

Know of any place that sells individual bits such as arms and heads?

The Marauder heads are actually fairly handy for Space Wolves as well.

From memory, the Marauder box comes with a bunch of extra arms, so you might strike it lucky in the Swap Shop.

You can get 4 sets of the Marauder arms on Ebay for about 2 bucks.

Depending on how many arm sets you need buying the whole the box isn't that bad. It comes with 16 marauders and if you trust yourself with minor repositioning most of the arms can be used. Even the ones carrying the banner and the ones from the musicians.

I haven't counted all arm sets up but you probably will have two sets of arms for each marauder and a few odd arms here and there what counts up to 32+ arm sets.
Additionally some of the heads would fit the space wolves theme and others could be made useable with a little bit of GS beards and such.
On top of that the weaponry can be converted to look like power axes and power swords with a decent conversion skill. You just have to remove a few chaos iconography here and there and add some techy bits from for example cut up chainswords. (which you probably have a bunch of unused ones flying around your bitz box.)
