Hello dakka, as the title suggests, I'm wondering if anyone has found a way to model a Lascannon or Missile launcher onto a small base infantry model for IG. I'm working off using a battleforce (cadian) and some bits from a previous battleforce (also cadian) that were left over. I'm working on this project as a commission for a friend and he requested a LC and ML in the squads in addition to the other 3 HWT he gets. I know it's legal codex wise to do this, but I don't have the required extra bases to mount them (I DO have the weapons and bodies to be able to, just missing the bases). My question is even if i just make them as normally configured, just putting the small basses under the 2 infantry and the energy pack for the LC on the ground, would that be game legal? as that would all kinds of basing problems ingame such as BTB, Range, and etc. I'm pretty sure I could convert anythign I need to, but the base issue is stumping me. Any thoughts or help is appreciated.

Actually, it's not.
Current heavy weapons teams have 2 models and a gun on a single 60(ish) mm base. Putting them on anything else requires your opponent's permission, and basing them separately drops you into all sorts of problems with the rules.
Some people still do it, but you need house rules to govern how the team then operates in game.

I know that hence the rest of my post, but to my knowledge a IG player CAN add a Heavy weapon into a platoon can he not? If I'm wrong tell me, please before I actually do this and find out he cant do it. I haven't read the IG codex before and only know what has been told to me by the person I'm doing commissions for.

AH, I see it now. I read it as you saying that it was legal to change their bases, not that it was legal to include them in the platoon...

Buy extra bases?
Cut discs of plywood/MDF/posterboard to the right size?
Find a paint lid / pot lid or something the same size?
Buy extra bases?
Make one textured base out of an original one and cast up a bunch?
A large pin badge (button?), repurposed and with a textured layer of GS on top?
Or, maybe, just buy extra bases? ;-)

The HWT need to go on a 60mm base.
There are a lot of suppliers out there for them, even if you don't want to use a gw one.
For example, you can get 10 60mm bases for $3 from litko.
You can get the gw bases from ebay for $1 each.
perhaps I misunderstood your question?

Very cheap easy way to get around this: buy a sheet of foamboard from wal-mart. Trace the 60mm base onto it, cut it out, seal the edges, base accordingly & paint. I've done this to create many additional teams out of spare heavy weapons & infantrymen.

But you can have the missle Launcher on a 20MM base. a gw has based them that way before, mainly in the Vallhalins, mordians and steel legion.

Back in the RT days, all IG heavy weapon guys shouldered their weapons like marines. And were fielded in support platoons of 10 guys, with 4 LCs and one ML. All on normal infantry bases. I'm not sure exactly when the switch to larger bases happened.
I have some of those old guys. I would be within my rights to look my opponent straight in the eye, and say "I'm playing them on the bases they came with" I'd feel like a tool doing it though. If I ever get around to bringing my old IG stuff up to modern standards, I'll do up larger bases, with indents for the 28mm ones the guys are on. Two guys to the base.

But HW teams now count as single multi wound base.

This. Like it or not, they changed the rules so it's one multi-wound 'model' on a 60mm base not two 'men' on 25mm bases.
