So, I have been reading in several areas and people are sometimes mentioning a new C:SM coming out soon. Problem is, I haven't found any information detailing a new C:SM coming out soon. Is there some actual truth to this, that I do not know about, or is this one of those soon = 1-3 year deals like some codex releases are?

"There is a cancer eating at the Imperium. With each decade it advances deeper, leaving drained, dead worlds in its wake. This horror, this abomination, has thought and purpose that functions on an unimaginable, galactic scale and all we can do is try to stop the swarms of bioengineered monsters it unleashes upon us by instinct. We have given the horror a name to salve our fears; we call it the Tyranid race, but if is aware of us at all it must know us only as Prey."

I've heard rumors throughout the interwebs pointing to october as a likely time period, but again, these are only rumors.

It's fairly believable that this might be the case (a new codex within a year ish period) as Space Marines are typically thrown a lot of attention by GW. Whether it's true or not, only time iwll tell

Wait, what? There are codexes that are a decade old, and CSM is getting yet another update? What the feth man

Dakkamite: they mean Codex: Space Marines.

IIRC, the (reliable) rumour mongers were putting it as coming after the Eldar, so its probably the next Codex.

"As I recall, your face was tortured. Imagine that - the Master of the Wolves, his ferocity twisted into grief. And yet you still carried out your duty. You always did what was asked of you. So loyal. So tenacious. Truly you were the attack dog of the Emperor. You took no pleasure in what you did. I knew that then, and I know it now. But all things change, my brother. I'm not the same as I was, and you're... well, let us not mention where you are now."

I keep hearing November... if that's true, its showing a slowdown for the GW (probably just catching up to the stuff they put into production ahead of 6th edition to be ready for it).

I'm hoping they do lay off... let the meta settle down for a little while before another new dex casts ripples through the game (and let me save up some $ for the SM release).

I thought Orks were next up, but haven't really be paying attention to what's before the space marine codex. I've also heard October as a possible month. Something in the fall timeslot. Late summer at the earliest. As their flagship army, it would make sense form them to release it late in the year and push for a strong holiday season.

Rumors, as always, should be taken with a grain of salt.

*sigh*
GW do have other games beyond 40k that get releases too!

Anyways, the current "rumored" release list according to Hastings, (who's almost always spot on), looks like;
June: Eldar
July: new 40k Apocalypse
Aug: Lizzies
Sept: Mystery Box
Oct: Dark Elves?
Nov: Space Marines
Dec: Hobbit Desolation of Smaug + Xmas crap

so that would give us two more 40k centric releases after Eldar and a pair of Fantasy relases, plus a 'mystery month' which some are hoping is a new limited ed Blood Bowl boxed game and then the usual for Xmas time.

I had heard that the 'mystery box' had a strong chance of being Bloodbowl, but with the ditching of Specialist Games...I'm not so sure now.

Aye, the ditching of specialists just to bring back Bloodbowl for a limited edition? Whilst it doesnt make much sense this is GW we're talking about... Anyways, as for the C:SM rumours, I wouldnt mind a new codex coming soon, hearing about if its any good which would then enable if I stick with my ultramarines or keep them in the display cabinet with the rest of my fond memories of Warhammer 40k and move on to another army.

Having the SM fluff written by someone other than WAAAAAAAARRRRD would be nice. It's unrealistic to have the fluff written as they never lose when, on the table, they are quite capable of losing a battle. I painted the Ultrasmurfs just because I got the paint set that came before the paint line revamp, and I only learned how bad the fluff was once I had the codex.

Then again, he could be behind it again... Let's hope not!

Also, a more reasonable pricing system within the codex would be much needed. From what I gather, all other MEQs are priced at less than the units in C:SM and potentially do better, but feel free to correct me on this if I'm wrong.

Yeah, all reliable rumour mongers seem to be giving out almost identical release schedules, and these schedules change every month or so, becoming more in tune with eachother.
So far, these lists have been spot on, and whilst there is much debate on what GW is pumping out next, Apocalypse, army books, mystery box (Blood Bowl has been hinted), codices, ect.
What they do all seem to agree on though, is that C:SM is the next codex, the two most common dates given that I've seen have said August and October.

I wouldn't mind if we kept our current pricing system if this happened. I can see fluff reasons for SW to all have a knife of some sort, but it's kinda weird that the SM don't have them when their CSM counterparts can, for a cost (but still a point or two per head less than the current codex, methinks)

Seeing as DA tacticals didn't get it, I'm betting we won't either (and probably shouldn't).

C:SM are the largest selling model range, they bring in the most $$$ and are the poster child. They get a new dex generally within 1 yr of each new edition coming out. Most store owners I know admit they sell 2-3 boxes of power armour for every one box of ANYTHING else.

Trade rules: lower rep trades ships 1st. - I ship within 2 business days, if it will be longer I will contact you & explain. - I will NOT lie on customs forms, it's a felony, do not ask me to mark sales as "gifts". Free shipping applies to contiguous US states.

I had done the same thing, I had painted a thousand points or so of my first marines (they were introduction into 40k or warhammer at all) and so I would copy the pictures and colours on the back of the box. Only when I actually go the codex and read through it and found that it was all about my guys and not really anyone else, the fluff was a bit disheartening. But after reading the ultramarines omnibuses, heroes like Uriel Ventris brought me back to loving my smurfs, even if everything was a bit cheesy... Heres to hoping that someone else writes the new codex and includes more content from lesser known chapters, such as the Aurora or the Mentors chapter.

I do hope Robin Cruddace gets to write the Space Marine codex.

Any particular reason why? I'm not saying he's a good or bad option, I'm just curious why you'd like him to write it. I feel like Jeremy Vettock did a good job with Dark Angels (despite some proofreading snafus) and I honestly like Mat Ward's Codex: Space Marines pretty well.

We're not seeing any real rumors coming around since GW really put the noose around leaks in the last year or so. People have been saying September/October for Marines though, there just haven't been any details. October would mark the 5 year anniversary of the current codex, so I guess that's as good a time as any.

They don't rumor often, and when they have, I'm pretty sure they've been wrong.

There's a thread about this in News and Rumors right now. I frankly don't put any credence in rumors that look like they were written by a five year old rolling his hands across the keyboard.

I'm kind of hoping we get a Blood Ravens special character so my excessive numbers of Blood Ravens models can finally stop using other SCs as proxies.

He plays Codex: Space Marines, if my Crusade of Fire book is accurate. That could either be a good thing... or a bad thing.

I found it funny that the guy who wrote the Tyranid Codex plays Space Marines...
