Hi all,

I used to use Dakka, quite a while ago, then I took a hiatus from the hobby due to moving house, A-levels and the general woes of real life. However, me and a friend were recently discussing Warhammer, and we're both getting back into it

Anyway, when I left, 40k was in 5th edition with rumours of 6th edition just beginning to rise. So, I've read up on the rules as well I can, but I'm not entirely confident about 6th edition and all the changes so I may have made some mistakes due to that. Also, I'm basically new to Tau; I started with tau back in 2006 when I started 40k, and their new codex was just being released; but never played very well or enthusiastically then due to me being 11 years old. And by the time I was into 40k more, 5th edition had rolled around, and Tau were looking awful

But I want to go back to my roots now that the Tau have been updated and are looking awesome, at least from my perspective. So, if there's any stupid mistakes, it's probably because I'm new to 6th and/or new 6th edition Tau. Anyway, enough rambling, here's the list:

Fusion Blaster
TL Plasma Rifle
Advanced Targeting System

3x Crisis Suit
Missile Pod + TL Plasma Rifle
Missile Pod + TL Plasma Rifle
Missile Pod + TL Plasma Rifle
4x Missile Drone

Heavy Support

Hammerhead
Submunition Rounds
Longstrike

2x Broadsides
2x High Yield Missile Pod
2x Advanced Targeting System
4x Missile drone

2000pts

That's it. The general idea I was thinking was the fire warriors and pathfinders form the main gun line, along with the ethereal for his support, and the broadsides. The hammerhead can remain somewhat mobile and snipe heavy tanks. Meanwhile the crisis suit unit, and the riptides can use JSJ to remain mobile and be where they're needed. Then the commander's unit would deep strike in behind the enemy, and cause damage from there.

Once again: all critique is welcome, thank you.

Check FAQ first

no missile drones on non broadsides
get a Iridium armor for your commander. its just too worth it.

Your riptide could use a VT or EWO.

ATS btw is for pression shot +1 so normal models with PS on 6+ characters will on 5+

So, which drones would you suggest changing the missile drones to?

And so, would removing 2 drones from the crisis team, and ATS from the commander and giving him iridium armour?

Removing the ATS And drones will give you enough for a IA,

check your book.

if you could find a way to squeeze more points out a Pure tide chip brings Alot of flexibility to your commander as well for tank hunter and monster hunter just food for thought

Yes, I know; I just wanted to check that it wasn't an awful idea to remove those things in particular.

You need the truly filthy combo: One dude has the MSS and C&CN. Go with PR/FB on the rest, including Cmdr. Now all shoot Twin-Linked and Ignoring Cover. I put flamers on each guy in case of horde assault. That unit has smoked (nearly) everything it's ever pointed at, in 7 odd games. *One* and I mean one sgt., survived due to Look Out, Sir! rolls. I have two GDs for ablative wounds, too.

I don't use riptides, so I've no opinion, yet.

MDs out for *only* two GDs. And I'd take out the MPs for FBs. I really don't think the FireKnife is quite the wisdom that it used to be.

Take him out for Dispod and moar dakka elsewhere.

No ATS. There's fliers out there and VelocityT is needed against Cron Air.
