Did you all see this? http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat440160a&prodId=prod2060060a Not a new kit, not a multi aspect kit, just half the models for the same price (or maybe more here, actually).

That being said; I like the Big'un!

Oh, and they actually priced the repackaged Chaos/ Space marine bikes in a fair manner!

Clearly, all of the extra Avengers were melted down to make the Wraithknight. This business strategy was completely expected and typical of GW.

They also repacked the Necrons Destroyers, but you know what....people STILL aren't going to buy them! GW makes me laugh.

Except that Dire Avengers are the *good* troop choices for the Eldar.

Which makes Guardians feel sad and so ronrey.

Huh, I did not actually notice that. Better than having them in packs of one I suppose...still would have been nice to have the heavy cannon with them instead of having it separate as a upgrade.

But we can't have convenience now can we.

They did the exact same thing to Imperial Guard when they got their new codex. They went from boxes of 20 infantry for $40 to boxes of 10 for $25.

Same exact sprue and everything, just a repackage.

Not exactly the same thing. Dire Avengers went from $35 for a box of 10... to $35 for a box of 5.

I have expected the same thing to happen with the Space Wolf Pack box. Was an amazing value when it was released, same price as the Tac Squad box, and comes with tons of options. But the sprues only make 5 guys, and it comes with 2 sets of sprues. So it would be very easy to repackage from 10 for $37 to 5 for $33, just like the Death Company box.

Eldar was one of the armies I was considering as my first army in 40k....then I saw the slap in the face model release and said no. Not updating ancient overpriced aspect kits with bad sculpts, repacking existing kits more expensively, and a a crazy expensive sudo tItan. Nothing the army needed, and only things to squeeze your wallet with no benefit to the gamer. If they wanted to make cash then make nice aspect kits with awesome new sculpts and people would be snatching them up. I get they're a business but man they're out of touch with their customers.

I have actually been worried about this happening to Space Marines. It didn't happen with the DA release but it could still happen with the C:SM release.

It is the straw that broke my camel's back. I am dreading what is going to happen when they rerelease Orks. I'm gonna pay $35 for 30 points of models? Kiss my ass GW. Lets talk walkers too... they will just repackage Kanz to $75. Ohh and why didn't warbiker mobz see a price drop?

Thus, After having thus successively taken each member of the community in its powerful grasp and fashioned him at will, the supreme power then extends its arm over the whole community. It covers the surface of society with a network of small complicated rules, minute and uniform, through which the most original minds and the most energetic characters cannot penetrate, to rise above the crowd. The will of man is not shattered, but softened, bent, and guided; men are seldom forced by it to act, but they are constantly restrained from acting. Such a power does not destroy, but it prevents existence; it does not tyrannize, but it compresses, enervates, extinguishes, and stupefies a people, till each nation is reduced to nothing better than a flock of timid and industrious animals, of which the government is the shepherd

Also, I'd note:

BryllCream wrote:How much points are they? I don't have the Eldar codex.

The fact that their cost went up more substantially than your usual readjustment seems like a signal to me that dire avengers are going to be getting a pretty big price hike in points cost as well. I mean, terminators have less plastic in them than a box of guardsmen, but they're much more expensive in part because you can get a few hundred points out of a single box of terminators, while you can't out of a single guard box.

More expensive pointswise are more relatively expensive moneywise. This looks like a portent of things to come for dire avengers.

If they sell 5 boyz for 35 bucks ill just cash in my investment by selling my entire army.

I was getting into eldar, but looking at the model release and the new price change, I may just sell what I purchased since thier prices went strait stupid. The army needs some work in the codex department, hopefully they will do something with guardians to make them tolerable enough to use.

close actually, they were actually only $35 for 20, now they're $30 (well...$29) for 10. Not quite as bad as going from $37.25 for 10 to $35 for 5, but not very far off at all either.

Just be glad you don't live in NZ or Aus, DA's there are $55 for 5, with near perfect parity with the US dollar, so it'd be cheaper to build a Forgeworld Space Marine or DKoK army than buy DA's

I have one full squad of Avenegers, and will certainly not be adding more. It is tempting to sell them and give up on eldar but they are just so pretty :(

I would love to be able to ask whover is in charge just HOW they can justiy this price increase.

The white knights will descend from their ivory tower probably at some point and explain that it has something to do with minimum wage and complex cross border shipping expenses and that its some how cheaper then 10 years ago to buy an army.
