Hi guys. I have started to look at Infinity for something different and first impressions are quite good. I like the 'always your turn' and the D20/ face to face mechanic. As the models count is not overwhelming, although I'm already looking at a second faction list, I thought I might try my hand at some quality painting. My standard is good table top quality but no way near showcase so don't expect anything spectacular, but I thought I'd try and up my game with these guys. I am pleased with the first couple so here they are, first time I'm ever posted anything on a forum!

Nice paint scheme !
I always prefer custom schemes compared to the official color schemes =)

Thanks for the replies. I've hung around here for a while but rarely post in any forum.
As for colour scheme I always find it disheartening trying to copy the 'official' schemes as I'm not as good as the pros. Custom means you have a blank canvas so to speak. I think they're slightly better than my amateur camera skill belie.
I may hang around here as I am still trying to get interest at my club for Infinity so the only way to get my 'fix' is virtually atm. Leading on from official colour schemes I am very interested in reading the background for Infinity as a big reason why I like 40K is the depth of the universe. Is it the done thing to make custom paint schemes or do most people stick to the pro ones. I think I may have to get a hold of the book as that seem like the best place for fluff.
Thanks again for the comments

Really nice colour combination for these guys, and a nice rich blue!
Agree with you about choosing your own scheme as well - something I've been far too cowardly with a lot of the time with my stuff...
Looking forward to more in any case (and make sure you post in the Dakka P&M blog section, to help increase the presence of Infinity there!)

Thanks. I wanted something a bit vibrant as my 40k Stuff is quite dark. I may start a blog as I haven't enjoyed painting as much as these guys for a long time. Great models.

This was always a danger without knowing the fluff. It came down to I couldn't do a good job of orange and blue is my favorite colour.
I'm building the Aragoto today and I think they are gonna be green to match my Kawasaki!

Maybe this one? Not sure if they do an acryllic paint of it though.

Nice! I'll think I'll use that to try a mix something close.

Cheers. Manage to persuade 1 club mate into a game so far so just feeling out the rules really, but they did quite well

Thanks. I've started on a Zhanshi Doc and Celestial Guard, and built one Aragoto. Just need a bit of free time now.

Awesome. Unfortunately it takes putting some responsibility on your shoulders to get people to play but once you get going it shouldn't be much.

I'm head of the committee of my local games club so I don't have a problem with that. But it did take a couple of years to get it away from a WFB tournament players practice group into a multicultural games club, so it can be disheartening sometimes.

Well it sounds like you are doing a good job. Once things get going and they realize there are other (good) games out there, they will change. Especially when you find you can have an Infinity force, Malifaux, and Mercs group for the same price as one army of WFB.

Ive been working on a Zhanshi Doc and Celestial Guard while I have the motivation, here they are;
What do you think so far?
Only some base colours down atm but I'm not really sure about the Guard. It's concerning the back pack and the detailing around the knees. I dont want to make the model too much one colour nor do I want too many making the model look busy. I've read about the 3 colours rule and spot colours when painting. I was considering trying orange as I've made his eyes orange, plus I'm not sure what would go with the blue as I've already used green. I wondered if they are any painting gurus that could shed some light?
Being as I really like the models I cant help but look to what to buy next. I know the advice is to play a few games first but they are thin on the ground. Anyway I was really tempted by the Su-Jain as that look really great.

Me again. Got my second game tonight and had a question. He wants to use the QSR but I've suggested adding in guts rolls and Lt rules as those are mandatory on normal games. Does that seem a valid assessment?

During the game last night the order procedure started falling into place and I would like to make sure I've got this right.
1. The active player has a model round a corner from an exposed enemy. He declared move skill and states move 2in out and 2in back to original position. No ARO is given and the active player declares second skill of shoot. The model moves 2in out gives ARO which is declared as shoot, the attack takes place and the active model moves back to original position whether unconscious or not.
2. Both players have models facing off with the active players model near a wall. The active player declares move skill stating to move behind the wall and gives a shoot ARO. The active player declares second skill of shoot. The attack takes place and the active player moves behind the wall whether unconscious or not.
This comes from being able to make the attack at any point in the movement, the first example in the middle and the second at the beginning. I see problems as the ARO can decide when to make the attack as well and if they decide to do it at different times in the move would it not make them normal rolls instead of ftf.
