Does any one have any experience of these paints I was thinking of investing in a set as I'm starting to do more air brushing and want to save time on thining my paints . But I was wondering how these paints are for brush work . As I don't want to invest to heavily if I can't use them for non air brush work . Thanks

VMA is a great set if it has the colours you want. They are less vibrant than the fantasy/sci-fi themed VGC and GW ranges but still a good selection. They brush on smoothly - a lot of people, myself included prefer to brush on airbrush paints since they're prethinned, thus saving you a step... although you might want to thin them a little more still if anything. I have a lot of VMA (and VMC, VGC) and they're good paints. I've moved mainly to the airbrush ready Minitaire paints lately though since I picked that set up and they're very nice to work with too, and even more cost effective, There's been a lot of discussion on this and related topics if you throw vallejo air or VMA into forum search.

I am using them as we speak (type) and I normally pop open the dropper and add 15- 20 drops of testors air brush thinner just to dial down my paint flow even more. And my doing this I don't have to pick off any dried paint off my needle mid session.
I just primed 60 assault marines fully assembled sans the bolt pistols . But I did prime the bolt pistols and arms separately. There were no clogs in my brush at all period. But every ten models I would run a hopper full of windex then a pot of water through my hopper.
When using brushes I usually drop about 10-15 testors air brush thinner in a pot and that makes it so I don't have to thin on my pallet. (this is VMC and VGC) just to add to painters using air brush paints on brushes.
For my army's base coat I have a spare bottle of VMC for the color I will turn into air brush thinned (30-40 drops) in a new pot verses the bottle I use for brushing. Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh and my rig is a California air tools conpressor and badger renegade krome.

Totally agree with Yonan. I love VMA. Originally started buying them when I first got my airbrush and really struggled with consistency issues, they sorted these issues out straight away. Now I use VMA as much as I can, even when just painting from the brush. They're thin and go on really smoothly. Automatically Appended Next Post:
All VMA I believe, except for the base skin tone. Automatically Appended Next Post: And all brushed on.

Utilizing Careful Highlighting

The only pure black I use is VMA black. It's the smoothest black in the universe and one of the most solid I've used. And I have never used an airbrush my entire life, so this was brushed on. I also had no problems with consistency nor mixing it with other paint. Give it a whirl.

I have afew VMA colors, I love the metallics that they offer, afew of the lighter colors are very thin and watery I've seen, so that's gotten alittle frustrating when working enmass on my dark eldar being the primary armor color. But I do like the range.
