THE ADVENTURE BEGINS!
hello all, my first ever blog thing'ie! on here! so what this is all about then?...................quite simply epic scale (NOT!
GW EPIC! scale...even thou iv'e heard its a good game?) but 'epic scale sci.fi modelling' we are talking STAR WARS! etc, BEFORE CGI yes! there was a time before CGI!, when the 'model makers' made the ships for real in miniature, now i'm no master model'er like them guys, so i'll start small! well! small'ish! and my reference for this adventure?
without doubt the greatest book in the world.................................................ever! the author GARY R WELSH is simply fantastic, the guy is a 'master' and the book is very inspiring,
so how do i start? well one of my sons and his mates love NERF GUNS, and as I've started to look more at the NERF GUNS i started to see the beginnings of a great looking base with what to build on, they look very like spacecraft'ie! very ALIENS! looking,
now i'm not the first to use NERF GUNS to build spacecraft i'll be first to admit, i see there attraction, great looking base to start,so i'll start with them, then after that i'll start scratch building from the beginning.
so i got together a few bits ready to start..............
and came up with this!
Fleet Ship 'VIGILON' Vortex Class C
OK, my fellow space travelers, the first of the fleet ships more will follow soon and then its the enemy's turn! its in black undercoat now, i'll try and get pics out soonest as i build each one. i'm pleased with how this build has gone.....not completely! ..... but i learned so much on this one! iv'e started to learn and understand more about this 'epic scale' and how to try and keep it all in proportion? not easy!..............a stand will be made! so ignore the short glass's!....
and now in paint!
the colour is Army painter primer 'skeleton bone' over a black base coat sprayed from a distance to use the black to pre-shade, it worked well, I've got a lot of skeleton bone left! due to the 'truck build!' i did earlier, i used AK interactive enamel washes they are fantastic to work with, i cant recommend them enough, rust wash was used lightly so it wasn't too! over powering i like's it! and the 'chipping' came out well.
and a cheers to my boy Connor who's becoming a regular at taking the pic's even tho he tell's me he's got a 'busy' social life! he still fits he's old man in! :
lol:
cheers
