Which army was the first that you focused on and played as for your main/favorite army? What influenced you to choose that army and were there any difficult decisions that almost persuaded you to do something else? What were the moments that made you satisfied or disappointed with your choice?

I never played nor witnessed a WHFB game, though I do want to play as Daemons cause the idea of Daemons forming ranks seem so bizarre that I want to do it. Yeaaah, my mind is strange like that.

Technically, my first army was the Undead back when they were a single army book before splitting into Vampires and Tomb Kings. I'll go with Other.

My bad, my knowledge of WHFB is little to nonexistent. I was just curious about what were people's first army if they wanted to share. But that would have been pretty cool to keep the Undead as a single book rather then splitting them.

No worries ;p they were an old thing.

The codex was not as varied as you might think. Generally, the core units were the same for VCs now, Zombies and Skeletons (I don't remember if Ghouls were around by then). For the most part, it was VC stuff, though mummies were something you could have a unit of, Tomb Kings were a hero choice and you could include screaming skull catapults and chariots (though these chariots were VC themed and not TK). The big variety was in the characters. Nagash was something you could field with broken rules and one of the worst models in GW history (for serious).

First army was Lizardmen back when the current book was released. The new kroxigor and stegadon models made me finally cross over from 40k, and now I almost exclusively play fantasy.

My first army was the 5th edition Bretonnians. I had purchased the started set with lizardmen vs Bretonnians with a friend.

He took the lizards I took the Brets

I also started out with greenskins, purely because they were in the 4th Ed starter box. Rank upon rank of monopose models. I only had enough money to add a small unit of metal night gobbos and azhag on a wyvern. I always got tabled by my mates woc, but we probably were making a mess of the rules anyway...

Recently, I've restarted the army, with the addition of a battalion box and some savage orcs. Going to strip the metal models, and use the army to experiment with dipping.

Started off with Tomb Kings, but changed to Wood Elves after I got tired of losing all the time.

But then I stopped playing for several years and now I am a proud knight of Bretonnia.

Tomb Kings were my first. I initially had a hard time deciding on an army as I was torn between undead and Dark elves (I didnt have much internet access at the time so my only exposure to the armies were my friends 6th ed BRB) When I went to GW the first time Tomb Kings were brand new and I was hooked. they had to sell me the "customer open copy" because they were out of army books, hooray discounts! lol

Fantasy: Tomb Kings, Dark Elves, Wood Elves, Lizardmen, Daemons
40k: Daemon Hunters (GK,MT allied), Tallarn Armored Battle Group, Night Lords.
Firestorm Armada/Firestorm Planetfall: Dindrenzi

Brets were my first army.
I started out with the 5th ed core set because I liked knights and just wanted more or less to paint them and make a pretty little display... then I learned how to play! (though my dice have always been horribad to me. )

Nowadays though, the Brets are a fond memory and I've found my self with Daemons of Chaos & VC's as my main loves, with Skaven giving me the stink-eye for not building them yet and my Nagaraythe High Elves still abandoned after 8th ed ruined a skirmisher based army...

Wood elves.

Back in 1992 or so.

It was stolen in 1995. So I stopped playing WHFB.

I've had High Elves since last year now - and have got back into the game with them.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).

Skaven. I've always had a soft spot for ninjassassinratmen. It turns out, however, that WHFB's version of ninja rat assassins is a really crummy way to play the army...I have since branched out to many other armies.

Dogs of War. An army that basically allowed you to pick any figures going and slot them into an existing framework, albeit Ogres, Dwarves, Kislev, Chaos Marauders, the entire Empire and Bretonian line.

Shame they binned them. Never went back. I keep hoping that I'll see flying pigs one day and the rules will re-appear.

Cheers

I started with Chaos when it was all one army (mostly all warriors though). Started with them mostly because my older brothers were moving onto other armies and forked them over to me. I was just a wee lad at the time and couldn't really afford to buy stuff on my own.

2013 WFB record:

Vampire Counts 3-0-0

Undead was also mine. 3000pts. They mostly scared everything off the board!
