Corporate integration, or subtle nod to a fellow robot armor trope?

Considering how Terminators are also associated with Space HULK, where they BUST the crap outta genestealers, I can't avoid thinking it's a cool Easter Egg

When I first saw the hulkbuster I shouted out "terminator" mid-way through that lifting scene

Yeah, my thoughts exactly - "HULKbuster," "spaceHULK," it is an obvious reference. But seriously, there were so many suits it was hard for me to keep them straight in the theatre.

I thought this and had to try and explain what a terminator was to the partner.

obvious reference

You do realise the Hulkbuster armour is designed to be able to face The Hulk if he needs to?

I think we're looking for easter eggs where none exist.

But it has powerfists.

I get "The Hulk" buster part too, but ... powerfists, with striped color patterning, the same slotted eyes and embedded armor surrounding the helmet.

large fists and hazard marking are hardly unique (and how many terminators even have stripes on their powerfists?), you sound a bit like GW with their space marine spiel

I think it's just a fairly generic 'heavy' iron man suit.

Meh, sarcasm comes off wrong on the internet. I am both at once convinced and yet acknowledging probably not. Still, if not intended, they are some funny coincidences.

the actual suit in the comics looks nothing like the one in the movies, for one. The movie one looks pretty small compared to the comic one....

Tough call. Probably a coincidence, though there are similarities.

If you start with a human form and just bulk up the armour plating, you will invariably reach something that looks like terminator armour...

The "Hulkbuster" could just be a reference to the team of scientists and other specialists that tried to come up with ways of stopping the Hulk in the comics. The "Hulkbusters" were around since the 1980s as I recall.

That's also not the "Hulkbuster" armour. It's "Igor", a heavy lifting suit.

"Igor" is the nickname for the suit...

The hulkbuster armor has been around for longer than terminator armor in its current incarnation. Nothing to see here, move on.

I've seen a few people saying this, but I don't think there's much of a resemblance.

If you ask me, it looks more like a City of Heroes War Walker:

God, I miss that game. Note that I don't think it's a reference to either this or a Terminator - it's just there's only so many ways you can design an exoskeleton with humanoid proportions.
