I agree with the general sentiment that, though guard doesn't need it (and thus won't get it), I'd love to see more stuff as scoring. 10-man stormie squads are great, and if I could take them as a scoring unit, that's all I'd need to want to spam them to the hilt - something I'd be able to do if I could take 6 squads per FOC. Likewise, I like the idea of being able to take some sort of armored company if they did the rules right. Or even a way to make rough riders troops. Hmm.
I disagree about the vendetta, though. It doesn't need to be more expensive, it just needs to lose its transport capacity. You'd fix most of the problems with vendettas and give people a reason to take valkyries in a single action.
Otherwise, there are a lot of things I'd like to see with guard, but there's no way they can do them without basically overturning what 6th ed did to them, which I don't think I'm actually in favor of. I'd rather see them fix the core rules than to patch what's wrong in codices.
The only things I could see while working within the current framework of 6th to ameliorate things while we wait for 7th would be some simple fixes, like taking chenkov as a company commander upgrade, and allowing any infantry unit in the army to purchase send in the next wave, or al'rahem being a company commander upgrade that could allow any infantry unit to purchase scouts. It wouldn't do much, but it would help.
Otherwise, all I'd REALLY want is a few tiny fixes, like making stormtroopers 15 points apiece (THE ONLY MODELS NOT DIVISIBLE BY 5!!!!!), and giving techpriests independent character, and giving the vanquisher Ap1 (ffs), and a bunch of little things like that. Most guard units need pretty minor corrections to jive with how 6th ed works, and to make a guard army play like a guard army again, we're just going to need not 6th ed, at least for foot guard.
Really, what I hope for the most is that they just don't screw it up. Imperial guard has been blessed with two good codices in a row. I just hope we're not due for a stinker.
