Subject: 1750 Necron Hodgepodge - My first tournament

On a Canoptek Spyder's Waiting List

Hey guys, I'll be going to my first tournament soon and would like some feedback/help with my list.
I'd like to keep buying new models to minium, but I am open to picking up a new kit or two. Really I want to know what few things I can change/get that will make the most of what I have.
HQ & Troops
-8x Immortals (guass), Nemesor Zahndrekh, Strom Tek (Lighting Feild)
-5x Immortals (Tesla) & Destruction Tek
-9x warriors in a Ghost ark with Transmogrification Tek (seismic Crucible)
Elite
-Triach Stalker (Heat Rat)
Fast Attack
-6x Scarabs
-3x Wraiths (1x Whip coils)
-3x Heavy Destroyer
Heavy Support
-Monolith
-Annihilation Barge
-Doom Scythe
The Idea with my troops is that the immortals with Zanhdrekh form the main offensive front and try to get in rapid fire range. The 5 immortals hang back and attack priority targets from 24", and the warriors use the ghost ark to grab and sit on objectives, slowing units on approach to them or other objectives. The wraiths and scarabs provide a defensive screen from assaults. The Monolith deepstrikes and is either anit Marine/infantry or provides backup mobility. The Heavy destroyers along with tank hunters work on popping armor from a distance while the stalker tries to pop armor up close.
I'm thinking of dropping the stalker, and bolstering my wraith and immortal ranks with the extra points.
I also have another 15 warriors, couple of lords and Overlords, and a C'tan.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated, thanks.

I would get a lord and RO for a maxed squad of warriors backed by the ark. I would also just take a night scythe and put the 5 immortals in there. 3 wraiths will die quite easily at 1750, you should fill out the squad. You could remove the destroyers and give your units some stormteks and put those points into fuller units.

With the units you have access to, I would agree and say you should drop the stalker. I am a stalker fan and have a couple of lists with them in it. You need more shooty if your going to put points into a stalker. Also, in recent games I have changed to the TL heavy gauss cannon. The stalker becomes a target quick, and having the added range is nice. But I would load out the wraiths first, you "need" to have a full unit otherwise they are just going to get shot up before you get them anywhere useful. You have to plan to lose 2 to 3 in any move you make to attack with them.
You have a lot of points in your HS, If I were to suggest anything, would be to get your hands on 2 more AB. This gives you Anti Air, light armor and infantry at a far lower cost than what you have right now.
As for your teks, I would put the destructek in the ark with the warriors. That is where it will be the most useful. If someone "assaults" your ark, the crucible won't do anything.. you can't assault the units inside a transport.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I think filling out the wraith squad seems like a solid change. When you guys run wraiths do you give them all whip coils or any of the other war gears?

Or, if you drop the Monolith, you can beef up the warriors plus add the wraiths. Swap the destroyers for another AB.
With the crypteks, I suggest that you take two lanceteks, one with pulse and put them in the Ark.
The idea is to create a walking blob with Zandy (who has an orb already). Then use the wraiths for CC. Stalker provides TL for the blob.
You'd need to buy another AB (but they are always useful) plus three wraiths. For the wraiths, 3-4 whipcoils is fine for 5

here is a revised list that i think you will really like
H.Q
Nemesor
2 crypteks(1 H.o.S(lightning field, V.S) 1H.o.D(gaze of flame,E.L, Solar pulse)
1 lord(R.O, M.S.S)
Troops
9 warriors + ghost arc(lord goes here)
9 warriors + ghost arc(H.o.D goes here)
10 immortals(Nemesor+H.o.S)
Elite
Triarch stalker(T.L heavy guass)
Fast A.
5 Wraiths( 5 whip coils)
Heavy Support:
2x annihilation barges
doom scythe
this should be a fairly good list with what you already have. the 5 wraiths will live much better and if you want 6 drop some whip coils and stuff. giving the H.O.D the G.o.F and Solar pulse can be worth it.

I would drop at least 3 of those whipcoils.. all 5 of those wraiths "should" never make it to their target. Between getting shot up and overwatch you are on average going to lose 2 or 3 of them.

This. But only drop 2.
Also, I'd be inclined to put Zandy and his squad into a Scythe (instead of the doom scythe) for a bit of mobility. I assume the immortals are Tesla as the Stormtek is going there (and they are walking).
Actually, as the OP would need to buy a new GA, I'd switch a GA to a NS as buying one of those will probably be more flexible going forward.

Thanks for the feedback, its a good note that some of the wraiths will die before getting into combat, so there's not much point in them all having whip coils, guess I just have to make sure that guys without it go first.
I had considered a list with more warriors, which is particularly appealing since I already have them built and painted. Would it be better to stick Nemesor in with a blob or warriors or immortals? I had figured immortals since they are hardier and hit harder too, but with warriors you do get more bodies.

You could put him with either. One trick would be to put him with the immortals, but buff the warrior squad. The key thing is the value you are getting from the orb so whichever you put him in, make it a full squad.

This!
I tend to keep Zahndrekh with a telsa immortal veiltek squad and keep him away from things. Then I tend to use him to buff whatever needs it the most that turn. ( mostly my warrior blobs) That way when someone assaults my poor guys, I can take furious charge away and give my guys counter attack.. then use hit and run the next round to break free of the fight.. shoot them in the face with lots of rapid fire then tie them up again.

i suggesst not putting zandy in a night scythe only because he wont be able to use his special rules in which he needs to "see" when embarked upon a night scythe he has no line of sight. also it can be good to have a foot slogging unit to hold objectives close or in your deployment.
