My very first dark angel ever painted actually!

If i get any more commissions for dark angels i'll be updating this thread.

The casting was bad with bubbles all over and a chunk of mold material stuck into the details around his keys, very time consuming to work on. Lots of liquid green stuff and paint later, i'm very proud of how it came out.

PM me about commission.

Blending on the armour is exceptional, well done!

Everything is really beautiful on this guy. I must say the shadow and detail on the face really make it pop.

Thanks. The armour was mostly glaze work with 7-8 different colors worked into it.

edit - if you want to try something similiar, glazes used were black (badab mostly), scorched brown, bestial brown, heavy warm grey, seraphim sepia, aggrax, bleached bone, white.

gorgeous work on the armor; really great blends and shadows. I can't help but feel that the reliquary/banner thingie is a missed painting opportunity, though, given the level of skill you're clearly capable of. that said, I'd be proud to field this model. nice work

As much as I hate that model, you've done a good job. My only complaint is that the banner is rather bland as it is now.

The armor does look very good; well blended with natural looking highlights/shadows.

However, if this is a commission, I would personally never pay for something like this. The quality of the armor notwithstanding, almost all detail on this model was completely skipped or painted one color. Some examples include the storm bolter, which is painted only one color. All of the tubes/wires and the flex joints in the armor were missed. The little details on the robe; the robe/cape trim, the rope holding the keys, the scabbard for the dagger could all use some color.
I'm not sure what the reddish/orange shading on all of the icons on his armor are, but if it is supposed to be rust it isn't working. The metal parts are too shiny for them to be rusted and nothing else on the model has the slightest bit of wear and tear so it doesn't make sense have a bunch of rusty icons attached to otherwise clean armor.
Of course the banner as others have mentioned is in dire need of some work...

All and all, this is a well painted model no doubt. You clearly have skills, and this model is begging for you to use them to really make it shine. Right now, this model is fairly mediocre, but it really wouldn't take much to make this model truly fantastic.

Yup, the cleint didnt want to spend too much. Just like the money my time is also limited. Add in the fact that the failcast took a couple hours just to fix i probably spent longer than i should have as is.

The metal is just a regular metallic shaded with a bright red. Maybe you think it's stupid or that's too out there for you, oh well.

I understand that it "regular metallic shaded with bright red" and I never said that I think it is stupid. I just don't understand why it is what it is... it doesn't flow with the model, that's all.

I sell myself short a little by saying it like that.

There was alot of red paints out on the palette and alot of experimentation to get that pop on it that i wanted.

Oh well, maybe it's not for everyone.

I like it a lot. I like my models simple and dark. I kinda dig the red shading on the metal....especially the leg icons.
