Plenty of changes, too much for one thread. It's probably worth starting up a changes to Main Rules/*Faction* thread or something! As soon as I've worked my way through the rules a bit more I'll start with the crazy posts!

For the first time, my reaction to a new edition of a set of rules I liked is positive. It seems like it's reduced the complex synergy and extreme uniqueness of different masters, which feels like it's hurting the core of what made Malifaux look so attractive to me, but at the same time it looks like it's streamlined things, and it seems like an all around more polished system (so far as the model rules are concerned; the rest seems largely unchanged). Upgrades certainly look like a good addition.

Hopefully a new edition will stir up some renewed interest in it, it seemed pretty much dead in my area when I looked around a few months ago.

Missed this when it was happening earlier, but I'd like a feel for the changes before plunking $40 for the new book.

Pretty sure the only peeps allowed access will be the lucky few who took part in the closed beta now.

IMHO I think it's worth getting the new book as it's essentially a new game but keeping the feel of Malifaux. I sure will!

P.s I'm not a Henchman!

They may not be up on the Wyrd sites anymore, but they were available for months, and even the last playtest file update was around for a couple of weeks, so it might be possible to find someone who has a copy of them for perusal. Sounds like some last minute tweaks were made, so it wouldn't be 100% accurate, but at least enough to get a sense of the direction of the game.
