Hey Guys I've been posting a lot here lately and have caught myself in a rock and a hard place. Should i begin Dark angels or rock a Grey knights army. I have a large force of Necrons 2k+ and i dont see using Grey knights for allies with them except for giggles. I really like some of the Grey knight shenanigans but i really like the idea of possible fast passed Ravenwing and fielding three of the Dark Angels jet fighter. (really like the look and tactics use with it) I have also considered using Grey knight allies with Dark angels I currently have 10 terminators for G.K and the space marines from assault on black reach that i would use to begin my Dark angels. if i stick with all grey knights i would use my AoBR as INq. henchmen. I guess I just want some input from the experienced Dark Angels/Grey knight players as to which i should shoot for because i really like both but as of now money is not in the cards to do both.

Build up your Necron army more first. Unless you only run one list (which I think is very boring), you have virtually no options in an 1850 or 2000 pt game. 2k is not a large force at all...4k is a bit closer to the mark.
To decide on a new army, read the fluff. Pick whatever fluff appeals to you more, because the lists you run will change through the years with new editions. Pick a strategy and some units that you like the feel of from that army, and go from there. Since Necrons, Grey Knights and Dark Angels have all been considered in some circles to have OP builds (GK less so now, and DA much less so) it almost sounds like you're just building up netlists. Furthermore, it is much cheaper to add some variety to your existing army than start a new one. You like shenanigans? The Necrons arguably have more than anyone except the new Eldar. Fast attack and fliers? Wraiths and Scythes (and the jetfighter isn't that great). If you really want a new army by all means go ahead, but really think about if you're actually tired of your codex or just your limited list first.

I'm not tired of my codex or anything and if I was to run a full list of everything I have its over 3k I can do a wide variety of stuff (except Aircron) I was more interested in them because I do like their fluff and like with my mmorpg games and stuff I just like to change this up every now and than. I have been toying with expanding them but at the same time dont want to feel like i get stuff that will never see the field. I guess i liked the jetfight for its look/cheaper than a storm raven and from my experience against them storm ravens dont always perform. But i shall consider you input seriously do continue my soul search of how to burn away money.

Ok. Well it sounds like I'm hearing more like for specific DA things as opposed to generic "shenanigans" for GK, so that might be a sign, but idk. If you want a new army, go for it! I would honestly recommend just going with your gut on this one, because that's your basic instinct of what feels good to you. Pick what you think is the coolest. The next step if you want is to make a list of all the things you like and dislike (fluff, specific units) for each army and compare the two that way. If really you want to go more in-depth, watch a few games of each if you can, and look at their tactica to see how they can play. Good luck!

I'm just doing exactly what you are. Just started my GK army because I wanted something different from my Crons. Thing is, Crons don't need allies, so I didn't pick based on usefulness of allies, but based on models (Dreadknight ftw).
imho, the dreadknight, plus some psyker protection is something that complements the Crons (we don't need it, but it is ok to have). DA you can get the Deathwing assault or bikes, but really, Crons can do what bikes can do better.
Word of warning, GK termies are really expensive so I'm finding I'm not using them.
