If you take one or two CSM HQ, put him/them with some warp talons, mutilators or any other CSM unit with the ´daemon´special rule, get chaos daemons as allies where you bring an HQ with the ´grimoire of true names´. You could potentially (if you throw a 3+ on the grimoire) get a 3+ invoul on your lords unit with the daemon special rule (not your lord). It would make your lord alot more survivable. With mutilators and obliterators MoN ,you would get T:5, 2+ armor save, 3+ invoul. Give your lord a jump pack and DS him with some nurgle warp talons with 3+ invoul, 3+ armor, T:5, or dont DS them and he can join them with a bike and T:6.

If you take a herald of tzeentch and role the forewarning power, you can boost that to a 2plus invul.

Nice, but why not the lord in allied daemon unit like bloodcrushers or those nurgle fly cavalry?

Does not work the grimoir only effects models with the daemon special rule. You can target the unit with The Lord in it but only the daemons in that unit are effected.

Thank you for restating my point.

True misread the original post that said it will still not be that great. At some point you will fail the grimior and the unit will evaporate, or your opponent will just torrent it down. Furthermore it is meh in combat because as csm you end up in a challenge and lose the buff anyway. There are plenty of ways daemon allies can help you that are filariasis better and more reliable.

What would you say is the best one? Help from daemons that is.

You can't have a non-Demonic Instability unit with a Deamonic Instability unit. So CSM Lords can't join a BL unit for example.

I currently run a lord of change giving me divination and a strong FMC, soul grinders are also excellent, as are almost all fast attack choices.

Or, you know, just give the Warp Talons or Possessed the Mark of Tzeentch, so you don't need to roll or cast Forewarning, as they come with their own 4++. It's expensive, but so are the WT/P. Why cheap out?
