A small company with a small but expanding skirmish style tabletop game has a Kickstarter. There's lots of them out there, I know. But, here's one with a very attainable goal and a sweet spot of about $60.

The company plans 17 factions, and this is their second Kickstarter to fund an expansion. The first (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/dgsgames/urdaggar-tribes-of-valor-fantasy-miniatures?ref=users) raised a modest $6,000 and met their goal. Models were created and delivered on time. I can take pics if anyone is interested.

DGS has been coming out to Adepticon as a vendor for several years. Very fine looking figures & a possible source of Mordheim replacement figures.

I may be wrong, but I thought Freeblades figures were significantly larger than standard Mordheim models.

I don't recall the DGS figures being bigger than GW figs - possibly taller but certainly thinner. There is a comparison photo on the kickstarter page showing DGA next to a Reaper figure, they seem to match well.

The concept art ranges from decent to bad (That first color picture) and the models look mediocre, but the kickstarter goal is fairly low so this seems pretty reasonable and will almost certainly succeed.

Three freeblades guys are good dudes, and I demo'd the game at adepticon this year.

I had a good demo, and walked away with a rulebook and the complete Bandits faction. If you like fantasy skirmish with a campaign mode, I highly recommend it.

I'm backing this at $60, mostly becaueI already have the rulebook and a complete faction.

Hey gang! First, a huge thanks to those of you who have backed us or will back us. We're here to give the gamer a company that is truly by and for gamers and wheil we (since we are also gamers) have heard that before, it just is never going to happen without great people like you.

Thanks for the kind words and the constructive comments. No question some of our early concept art is not up to perceived industry standards - not because its "bad" but because we had to go through the learning process of what is the right style and what exactly does a sculptor need.

But its not the art you are going to get, its the models. So, here's a preview....

I really like the Pikeman, but I'm really not sure about the Sailor's weapon.

I'm hoping that I'll get some funds free before this campaign ends so that I can get the rules and some figures.

Any chance of some more size comparisons? Especially with some of the other popular fantasy type figures: GW, Red Box, Perry's Historicals, etc. It would be immensely helpful.

We looked and looked for a model we liked that gave the gamer options for a real thrown grappling hook and were not satisfied with what was out there. We didn't want yet another coiled rope or rope pressed against the body or a hook just beyond his hand. With this guy, the gamer can convert and alter to his or her heart's content. Its a fun weapon in the game, but also a great model for a lot of other uses.

We'll get you some scale comp photos.

I also play test this game and it is a lot of fun.

Each faction thus far has its own play style, the rules are straight forward and they guys at DGS are VERY responsive to feedback.

Hope to see Jon and Richard again soon. Been busy and not at the shop in a while.

Those models are rather impressive.

A big step up from your current range of miniatures.

Hope to see much more from you in the future.

Scale comparison.

Left to right..

Note that the Freeblades model is from our first kickstarter - which exceeded its goal and was delivered on time.

I actually really like the sailor and that may have just sold me on the KS. I backed the first and am very pleased with the service and the models, but the models from that KS were right in my style (nature-y). These are a bit tailored for my taste, but the sailor changes that a lot.
