Hello everybody!

Back Story:
So I have a lot of IG and I figured I can easily go into GK Inquisition =I= with my current models. Now henchmen are fine but there is only so much you can do before you run out of troop slots and my list always looks a spammy. So this brings me to look through the codex again and since GW is pumping out giants I figured I should make my own and this will help my list.

PIC 1:
Torso - pretty much 3 leman russ sponsons. The bits on the ends and on the bottom are magnets so I can take the arms and legs off for transport.

Question:
How tall is a Dread Knight? How wide? I live so far from a store it's not funny :( from what I could quesstimate it's about as big and wide as a chimera?

PIC 2:
Gatling Psilencer - Old jacked up punisher cannon from one of my tank kits and a plasticard frame.

PIC 3:
Gatling Psilencer with ammo barrel - Same thing but with it's ammo barrel set on there.

Comment:
I know the GK Psilencer does not fire bullets and would not need ammo, but this is really a crappier Punisher Cannon using the rules for the Psilencer so in fact does need bullets. :p

Question:
Now which way is pleasing to you? Horizontal or vertical?

PIC 4:

Comment:
I made the thing with the plan of putting it vertical, but I think it looks better horizontal.

Okay, did some more work!

Got a leg.

Gatling arm..

with the leg, to get an idea how big it is. I hope it's close to the same size as the real dreadknight!

Both legs

40k is as exciting as riding a pony, which doesn't sound very exciting.......

But the pony is 300 feet tall and covered in CHAINSAWS!

Finished! Looks like it actually came out an inch taller than a real Dread knight. But hey that's really good for just looking at the back of the Grey Knight codex.

Questions and comments welcome.

nice work, but it looks a bit more Tau 1.0 than Grey Knights.

Not enough skulls? Thanks though! At least I got the low tech part right.

HA! This is way cool, It definately looks like some guardsman got their hands on a craftsman toolset and said you know what, we can have dreadnoughts too! Very fun.

A really nice scratchbuild. But i have to agree with SoloFalcon1138. It doesn't look that fitting with IG tech. I think it is too humanoid - too mecha-like. And as a result it will be connected with Tau as they draw their design from tha area.

What i'd expect a low-tech IG model to look like is less humanoid, maybe even using a tracked lower torso instead of legs.
And the way the shoulder and arms are mounted are to mecha-like. Especially those shoulders.

But on the other hand the boxy design you used on most parts fit with a low tech IG style. A more dehumanized torso or a more conpact one (as lower torso and less space between arms and torso) would've looked better.

But non the less a really nice model you created there.

Thanks btdoomhammer for the comments. All very true. I agree with you on the shoulders, I couldn't figure out a good way to do that part. You're right I should've went more of an Armored Sentinel. I definitely agree with you on the arms! I would've loved to just mount them on the torso instead of having arms but I wanted to stay as close to the dread knight as possible.

Thanks again btdoomhammer, Chancetragedy and SoloFalcon1138! My first scratch build. I'll take all your comments on board for the next scratch build. Probably when the new IG codex comes out.
