Was going through some boxes the other day and found a box Sanguinary Guard, the box was opened and some partial assembly, but everything is still there. Really not playing 40k anymore, so is GW stuff still about full price in trade? It used to be...

Not with partial assembly it isn't.

You can prob expect 20-25 bucks tops.

Yeah, not at all full price, even if it was still in shrink wrap.

This topic comes up a lot and YMMV, but I generally go for:

50-65% NIB/NOS
40-60% Well assembled, bare models
30-50% Well assembled, primed models
20-50% Painted, well-assembled models

Then just deduct for poor assembly, bad paint, missing pieces, etc.

It's worth whatever someone is willing to pay. Someone may give you close to retail, someone will want to give you way less.

Your problem is that anybody wanting SG (or anything, really) has probably gone out and bought their own already, so you've got to go cheap enough versus your average eBay store to incent them to go with you.

Otherwise you're banking on finding that rare person that wants to buy anything near full price, but piecemeal from random people.

For a strait cash sale this is probably true.

However if you can make a trade deal with someone who has what you want and what's what you have, it's possible you might even be able to get an unassembld kit of equivalent retail value. Not likely, but possible.

Unless you're in a hurry or need the $, I always recommend putting it up for trade first. It's your best chance of getting the most for your stuff. You can always slap a price on it later.

That's not terribly helpful though. Under this theory, someone may need SG so badly that they are willing to give you 10xretail for them. Everything is possible, after all. Setting his expectations on reasonable prices that will move the models is probably a better idea.

How does almost retail = 10x retail to you ?

Also, the OP said in trade, not cash, and most of the replies have been in cash amount percentages.

Unassembled and unpainted can usually fetch the same in trade.

Partially assembled will really depend on how well they were assembled, and rely on pics to convey that information. Expect to trade in their favor unless their models are in a similar condition.

It also depends on what other people are interested in. I just snagged three Monoliths for $90 on eBay because nobody wants them. They sorta suck and a lot of people have seen the cool new uber ones coming out next month. You really have to study the market and see what things are selling for and what isn't selling at all.
