Just got this idea, what do you all think? As you can see below I have created a ghetto ruins. I used lots of extra sprue pieces as well as some Magic the Gathering lands as panels and platforms. I used tooth picks for a ladder. I will use this as two story ruins. A few other pieces I used was a few credit cards they send you promo in the mail, aka junk. So I thriftily used them as plastic card. Once I prime and paint this, it will look great.

I have a top tier and a second tier for the models, models have been tested.
NOTE: No models were harmed in the making of this terrain.

This doesn't really belong in showcase since it's not a finished piece of work. Paint it up first and then reshowcase it.

I'll sub to this ready for when you post painted pictures.
I think you need to make it look more like a tower and less like a framework of sprue's glued together but hopefully the paint will do that.
Looking forward to seeing it finished.

Unfortunately, this is still going to look like sprue. You honestly need to refine your source material, and reduce it to nothing but spars of straight unblemished plastic, else, it will shine right through that it's just sprue, and it won't look pleasing on the table.

It doesn't matter how bloody far the apple falls from the tree. If the apple fell off of a Granny Smith, that apple is going to grow into a Granny bloody Smith. The only difference is whether that apple grows in the shade of the tree it fell from.

I'll witthold final judgement until it's primed, but I'd tend to agree with Poda. To make sprues look good in terrain you've usually got to cut off most of the side bits until it's long spars of plastic.

It doesn't have to be overly neat when dealing with this kind of terrain, but all the little off-shoots and tabs is kind of a giveaway.

Luckily a pair of flush cutters and a piece of sandpaper make it pretty easy to turn your sprue into building beams/spars/pipes.
