If GW asked you to design a flyer for the Sisters of Battle what would you come up with? this is my vision of what it could be...

A slightly smaller version of the Voss Pattern Lightning Strike Fighter. Since the Sisters fight with the 'Holy Trinity' of weapons, Bolter, Flamer & Melta that's how I'd arm it. A twin linked Heavy Bolter in each wing, A twin linked Multi Melta in the nose and two "flamer bombs" under the wings. Flamer Bombs would be like napalm, template, S6 AP3, ignores cover. The template can be placed anywere along the path the vehicle moved and would scatter 1D6 forward in the direction of the flyers movement. Flamer Bombs are one use each and can be dropped at the same time or in separate turns. If dropped at the same time each template can be placed individually along the flight path and rolls for scatter seperately. It would be a Fast Attack choice and could be taken in squadrons of up to three. Armour 11 - 11 - 10 and three hull points. Cost about 100 points.

It would be the "Lightning Fighter" like in the Dawn of war game.

I'd make it look like this:

And I'd give it a giant bolter (probably mid-strength, AP 3, lots of shots) and lascannons, and the option to take some kind of flame missile. Since it's a pretty big plane with lots of guns I'd probably make it heavy support.

Yep. Lightning Fighter with fire and melta options. It's perfect for them. Getting the Avenger out of FW and into their Codex would also be nice. And it'd make sense, since according to FW they revere it quite a bit.

How would a melta work on a strike fighter, exactly? It doesn't really have greater range than a grenade throw, from my impression in the lore.

I mean I guess... you could use melta-powered missiles?

You guys are WAAAYY off....

Continuing on with the GW current toy design...

It must satisfy the following criteria..

1. Long robes with flowing banners that can easily break.
2. SKULLS!!! lots and lots of SKULLS!!!
3. Some sort of molded on flames and at least one oversized sword that can again, be easily broken.
4. Organ pipes and Censers---because the flames will stay lit moving at Mach 2....

That should just about cover it..

Melta missiles could work, and would be unique. On the other hand, the Stormraven comes with a multimelta already, so there's precedent.

All the new Codexes apart from Chaos seem to have had two fliers - a gunship one, and a "fluffy special of the day" one (the DA flying church, Dark Eldar have the void bomb...). For Sisters I reckon something that has some minimal standard weaponry but can target and "demoralise" units with weaponised chanting would fit the bill. Maybe take a Leadership test at -5 and suffer a Wound for every point failed by?

Would melta missile means it always trigger the melta special rule? I mean, it'd basically be like a melta bomb but long range.

The Doom of Malan`tai is a Tyranid unit that makes evrey enemy unit within 6 inches take a LD test on 3d6 and take a wound with no armor saves for each point you fail by. So there is precedent for it. I could see the mechanic coming back sometime (as much as I would absolutely loathe it on my poor tau).

Sisters already have the Avenger as a heavy choice, and tbh, its a pretty hardcore flier. a 12/10/10 flier with an ap3 bolt cannon of doom? sure.. seems about right... ... ..... -_-

Edit:
And to anyone who says ERMAGED NO FORGEWORLD HRMNAHRMMM!!, simply replay that if that is the case, then they cannot use any of the units from DFtS, as it is also an expansion to WH40k, and since only core RB/codex are allowed, they cannot use the fliers in it.

Actually, several codices have fliers regardless of DFtS, if I remember correctly, such as the Imperial Guard's valkyries.

That, plus Grey Knights and Blood Angels have Stormravens and Dark Eldar have both the Razorwing and the Void Bomber. All from 5th Codexes, updated by FAQ/Rulebook.

I'm no expert in lore or fluff but the Storm Raven has a nose mounted Multi Melta.

24inches is one heck of a grenade throw.

We use a Valkyrie "Sororitas" that exchanges the lascannon/ multilaser options with heavy bolter /multimelta ones.
