Striking scorpions could wind up being a "must take", or at least a strong unit in the new eldar dex. I'm not a huge fan of the old (metal, now finecast) models.

Anyone have any conversions / kit bash to share? I was looking through the WH fantasy elf lines for kits to use as a starting point, but nothing jumped out at me.

Any pics / ideas would be appreciated. I think I'm going to want to make at least 10 to start.

Maybe an uparmored infantry kit from the high elves line?

Have you tried to find some of the original Scorpion sculpts on ebay? All the original Eldar aspect warrior models looked pretty good in my view and they are subtly different than the current finecast crop.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

If you don't like the last version - then look for the other 3 versions of scorpions they have released.
(They are one of the aspects with 4 different version sculpts since they were first released in 1990).

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

Have you considered using Dire Avengers or Guardians as the basis to start from?

I was thinking guardians + dark eldar wych bits = a place to start.. I was hoping someone would post a picture of success.. just as proof of concept or whatnot

I've been tossing around repositioned Guardian bodies/arms/legs with HE Shadow Warrior heads as a base (with proper conversions for the mandi blasters), either Wytch weapons or scratch built chainswords. For the Exarch power claws you could use Daemonette claws as a base.

What is it that you don't like? I find it maybe the coolest Eldar armour:

The Shadow Warrior heads would definitely work, I think.

It's a very pricey kit however just for 10 heads.

Wych or kabalite warrior legs and torsos (or the guardian torsos) dire avenger arms (the exarch's pistol arms) and shadow warrior heads or walker head.

or
make your own concoction.

I concur, the metal models are crap (as most of them are) Do to the molding process, they are usually less dynamic, less detail,, poorer sculpting.

This is one objection,

I'm not a fan of the chain swords, the heads, the poses (it'd be nice if the striking scorpions looked like they were striking something..)

But, fundamentally, I'm not going to pay $40 for six finecast models I don't really like.

I'm not the kind of dude to whine about GW prices. In general, I think GW is giving you what you pay for. High quality models, high cost.

This eldar launch has me pretty peeved though. Jetbike sculpts circa '94, the striking scorpions...

Fire dragons look OK, but I'll have to buy used metal if I want to use them.

I like the wych poses, I think if i can find some armor bits, weapons/arms and heads, the wych body will be a good foundation.

I dunno. I think I'm going to want at least 10 scorpions though.

I used Dire Avengers with Storm Guardian weapons and the heads from FW Eldar Corsairs. No pictures though, sorry.
