Will make it quick, want my chapter to be a 3rd founding chapter, and want to create a small battle history. My question is should I just create entire battles that weren't recoded/lost, or could I say that my chapter acted in a supporting role in major battles but were never important enough to be remembered? A long winded question I know, I am half asleep as I am writing this. Here are a few battles I have found through my research and wanted to get everyone's opinion;

Some I think that these are possible...
1. Tau crusade with Ultra's
2. 3rd War of Armageddon
3.Waaagh Skullkrak with the Raven Guard
4.13th Black Crusade

These are far fetched but still want opinion on them...

1. Lazar System Incident
2. 4th Quadrant Rebellion
3. Badab War
4. Hive Fleet Tiamat with Mechanicus
5. The Levicus Incident
6. 3rd and 7th Black Crusade(s)
7. Maxii Beta System with Grey knights
8. Occlusiad War
9. Taninm Crusades
10. Bell reth Crusade(not sure on spelling)
11.War of Recovery(like this one due to fluff for my chapter)
12. Plague of Unbelief
13. Red Stars Campaign with Dark Angels

Phew...most of these battles I looked up using the Internet (lexicanum) and C:SM so if these are incorrect I would not be surprised. Thank you again for your time and hope

You could get away with 3rd war of Armageddon, or any other really large battle. You should write your Chapters fluff based off the battles you have. That is what I am doing.

Depends which part of the Galaxy your chapter is based in.

If it's in the Galactic North, both Armageddon and the Eye of Terror are feasible. If it's the Galactic South, The Damocles Gulf crusade is possible, as is any war against the Tyranids, as is the Raven Guard battles.

Having your chapter be everywhere is a bit of a stretch, so focus on battles in a certain quadrant of the galaxy. If you are feeling really creative, going to the galactic North East gives you pretty much free reign, as the Ghoul Stars haven't really been explored, and with both Tyranids and the 'unknown horrors' that live there...

The South/South East would be anything to do with Tyranids / Ultramarines / Tau, South West being Necrons and Orks more than anything else, with the North West being Chaos Chaos Chaos + Armageddon. (if i'm remembering my galactic map right)

Is there a permanent stickied thread for Chaos players to complain every time someone/anyone gets models or rules besides them? If not, there should be.

And also orks, nids, chaos(the maelstrom) and necrons in the Centre.

Not familiar with a lot of these engagements; the Black Crusades are something pretty much everyone in the area gets called in to combat and Armageddon was a pretty extensive war so those are safe, the Badab War has a fairly detailed predefined history with a list of all the combatants on both sides so I wouldn't advise inserting yourself there, the Damocles Gulf Crusade was pretty small according to the new Tau book (they claim nineteen Guard Regiments and five hundred Space Marines posed a credible threat to a populated world, I think I may be mentally find-replacing "Regiment" with " Corps" where the Guard are concerned, which leaves them still undermanned but less absurdly undermanned) but your Chapter having contributed a squad or two isn't too far-fetched.

Thank you all for the posts and suggestions. I was planning to put my chapter right on the edge of the North, close to the Halo Stars...I already started a post earlier about my chapter being in the Halo stars.

Also, would being a chapter that leaves the Homeworld on long engagements, like a crusading chapter with a homeworld(I know seems stupid but I like it) cover more territory, thus engage more enemies? Or do most chapters just stay in a pre-defined territory? I chose the halo stars so my chapter can stay away from the Inquisition, and so I could justify having a much smaller star system under the chapters protection, like Ultramar.

And I am planning to play in a small tourney at my local hobby shop soon, and use it to write some fluff for my army of course. I just don't want to make a chapter that saves the world everyday in battles no one has recorded. I am more focused on creating a unique army, rather than the greatest army no one has heard about.

As for enemies in my area of the galaxy, I am limited to orks and chaos. But I want my chapter to HATE the Dark Eldar and the Inquisition, and engage them as much as possible, without my army becoming a chaos war band.
