Hi,

I wanted to ask you all about your thoughts on painting Imperial guardsmen.

They seem boring both to watch and to paint, actually i'm trying painting schemes but none of them are convincing.
In fact I am thrown in a terrible choice : Creating a Tyranid Nidzilla army or a tanky imperial guard army.
Both would have tons of voncersions (I am a green stuff addict).

So now my IG can have some dynamic postures (at least !) and look way better imo than base guards (yes i'm proud of myself).
BUT, painting tyranids you can go for purple, yellow, anything, you are completely free.
Guards, even with my "veterans from everywhere" army theme still have a limited number of colours that fit them.
That look nice.

Any thoughts ? help ?

Even in the galleries I'm not finding anything that caught my eyes, something that never happened to me watching other armies.

So are you just saying the color schemes of Imperial Guard regiments bore you, is that it? You can go for whatever color scheme you want honestly. Even the older IG codices had a number of paintschemes for different environments in the gallery section. While yes, there are the typical olive drab/field green/desert/urban camo patterns, there were also jungles (bright green and black), volcanic planets, rad wastes, whatever. If you really want to paint a scheme that's yellow and neon green, say they're from a radiation-soaked planet with huge mutated jungles full of neon colored plants. There's always a way to explain stuff in this game.

What about orange and red for a Martian regiment? Would allow you to have lots of tanks as well.
