Hey guys, I am working on some of my Executioners and I'm kind of worried about the paint scheme. My Renegade Guards have green power and plasma weapons, I've been trying to keep all my armies the same with their power and plasma weapons, because I think it looks cool. However, with the the end of the barrel is painted red and I'm worried that it might look too christmas-y, but I can't think of a color that would work rather than red as it is what my guardsmen's uniforms are. Any suggestions or criticisms are welcome!

Example of another plasma gun in my army:

The green's fine, but maybe not with the red - unless you're using red barrel ends for all of your vehicle weapons? Otherwise, I'd change the barrel end to your general blue/grey camo scheme, and maybe use red on some much smaller detail elsewhere on the tank.

Maybe I should really embrace it and put some Dark Elves and a Nurgle Champion on top. Or is Santa a Khornite, he does love red...

All of the Executioners were going to have red barrels, some guardsmen don't understand plasma means it Gets Hot!

I'll put my vote in for leaving it. I had a red/green empire scheme and I was worried about the xmas thing too. But Christmas is more about getting presents and... oh wait, you didn't ask for the meaning of Christmas? Anyway, I think those colors (not dissimilar to my old scheme) look great together, and the composition does not imply xmas. Now if you camo was red/green splotches... that may imply xmas.

To me it just looks like a big old plasma cannon with a red warning on the barrel and spiffy green plasma coils.

I think it looks fine. The blue and grey offsets it nicely i think.

It looks fine to me, though if it's doing your head in, why not do black and yellow hazard stripes?

Could even put a scorched and burnt hazard sign on the barrel itself that says "Caution: Gets Hot"

Just going off what you said about the guardsmen forgetting...

Looks like a classic plasma cannon.

Moreover, I like it.

Thanks for the suggestions. I kinda like the hazard stripe idea. I may have to see how that looks.

Good luck with what you decide. I really hate to see you change something that isn't broken. That said, if it doesn't feel right to you, that's all that matters!

I understand, and feel better that people say they're not broken. The reason I am considering how to do hazard stripes is that they are for my Iron Warriors traitor guard allies. I'm not a fan of hazard stripes on everything, so it just slipped my mind. When there is a nice open space for some stripes it might be a good idea. We will see. I am liking the red more and more, but hazards might fit well into the army too.

Here is the almost finished result. I took the hazard idea and put it on the dozer blade. The hazard stripes helped break up the red and green in my opinion.
