Which Chapter of Space Marines is known for tank combat?
And do any of those chapters have a good chance of getting a codex or codex supplement? (I know this part can't be 100% accurate)

The Aurora Chapter possesses three times the typical amount of Land Raiders and Predators and was described as a byword for "armoured assault" in the Ultima Segmentum. I doubt they'll get a supplement given that they're little more than a blurb of fluff and a picture in the Space Marine codex.

The Aurora Chapter has a lot of tanks, page 25 C:SM. And no they don't have much chance.

No chance is probably closer to the truth.

Darn, with a name like "Aurora" I was hoping for some kind of awesome color scheme. Apparently they get snot green like some kind of cut rate Deathguard.
Don't forget to take a thunder hammer and put it on someone important. Apparently they took a tank axle and forged it into a hammer because they have nothing better to do with their time (and tanks totally have axles in 40k).

Wouldnt the driver wheels on a tracked tank likely have axels?

Aye, that they would. You need to get the spinny-ness from the turbine to the treads somehow. Whether they're long enough to make a Space marine thunder hammer is a question I leave up to wiser men than I.
I just realized that for a guy who loves mechanical stuff i have remarkably little knowledge about how a tank's drivetrain actually works.

Aurora can look pretty awesome if you pick the right company for the shoulder trims (personally I think the black looks best).
It stands to reason the Iron Hands would also have a lot of vehicles.

Black Templars primarily fight as armoured spearheads or via drop pod insertion and probably stands the best of chances to get either a new Codex or a supplement.

I think that Black Templars may get their own codex based on the allies chart in the BRB.

Didn't the Catachans have a codex as well? How is that?
Also, is the Black Templar Codex compatible with the most up to date Space Marine Codex? Will it be compatible when the new Space Marine Codex gets releases?

Codex: Black Templars is a stand-alone Codex and is still (barely) supported by GW, hence why it's still on sale, has an FAQ and showed up in the allies chart.

How about Ultramarines? They've created a special position just for the leader of armoured assaults. Spear of Jove or something.
Granted, they are not particularly known for tank combat, but then again it may be as close as you can get, at least in GW studio fluff. Space Marines are "get in fast, get out fast" shock troops, after all, and tank warfare isn't exactly an integral part of this doctrine. That's what you have the Imperial Guard for.

Power of the Machine Spirit Vindicators, cheap Trilas Predators and Land Raider Crusaders that can buy immunity to Lance Weapons. Then again, really expensive Razorbacks/Rhinoes and the worst MEQ troops in the game. It is the oldest Codex in the game though.

Blood Angels. Can bring lots of Land Raiders to the party, they have their own pattern of Predator in addition to the standard Predator, and all their vehicles save for Land Raiders are fast.

While all this is true I wouldn't say the Blood Angels themselves are *known* for tank combat - far from it in fact. It would be a great idea to use their Codex for another Chapter, however.

Yeah, they aren't known for it from a fluff perspective, but would be the best way to represent that sort of force on the tabletop.

Aurora space marines run with the Blood Angels codex might be fun... Couple Land Raiders with nasty assault terminator squads inside (make sure to get that thunder hammer in there), some predators.
Sounds fun, and it's so far from the current meta nobody would expect it.

Blood Angels seems like a good place to start if you want to build a tank based codex-- they have some good vehicle rules, although they don't have enough tanks for you probably.
